Hello All: Please advise if the weights cited for protein (1 oz chicken, 1 oz beef, or 1 oz lean pork = 1 block) are precooked or cooked weights? What I have been doing is putting cooked chicken on the scale until it gets to 3 oz and then eating that. Is that right? Pls cfm. Thanks Kate

see my comments on chicken posted on 9/5/03: "how many chickens does it take" Typically they refer to precooked weights, however, I find that as long as you keep the chicken moist- 1oz cooked is 1-p block. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you do not like the details. You can always check by reading the nutritional lable- which is for pre-cooked. What might be easiest is to figure it out ONCE based on the pre-cooked weight, then compare the weight to the after-cooked weight. From then on you can just use the after cooked weight to estimate the p-blocks. What I found for chicken is that pre-cooked lables say 4oz is 3-p blocks (21 grams)- but by the time I cook it (as long as it is moist), the 4oz shrinks to 3 oz- making it 1oz = 1 p-block after cooking. Hope I did not confuse you- sorry if I did.
