I have a Q about Zone bars- if I recall they have 7g fat, 14g protein & like 23g carbs--- isn't that a lot of carb for this eating plan? I personally love Balance Gold bars- they have the same ratios of protein/carb/fat- and are supposed to have a low glycemic index...so eating those should be ok too, right? |

Remember to subtract fiber when determining carb count for Zone balance.
As for bars other than Zone bars, it will depend upon whether or not they keep you in the Zone. Dr. Sears Zone bars have been shown to keep insulin in the Zone with testing done on diabetics. Dr Sears has patented his bars in this regard. |

I have eaten both the Zone and Balance bars. They have both been a great snack option in a pinch. My husband preferes the Balance bars because he thinks they are the most like a real candy bar. He doesn't realize I hide the Chocolate Mint Zone Bars because they are my favorite and I need to feel like I am rewarding myself somehow. |

I have another question about Zone Bars...are they meant for a snack or a meal replacement? I am very new to the Zone life and am still trying to figure some things out. I am doing 11 blocks (3 block breakfast, 3 for lunch, 1 for snack, 3 for dinner, & 1 for snack)...so what would be the best way to incorporate the bars if I need to in a pinch? Thanks! |

Welcome Kathleen!
One Dr. Sears Zone bar contains 2 fully balanced blocks (2P, 2C, 2F). They can be used as a meal (1 1/2 bars for a 3 block meal), as a snack (1/2 bar for a 1 block snack), or to round out a meal if you need an extra block or two. |

Newbie here---Just got the book A Week in the Zone. Already feeling better from beginning a few of the concepts. My question concerning the Zone bars: are the Zone bars on this site different from the Zone bars at stores (ie. Walmart, etc) thanks for everyone posting all this information. I'm reading all I can. thx |

Hi Dawn!
Welcome!
Yes, very different. Those in stores are not connected wth Barry Sears nor with Zone Labs. For many people, Dr. Sears Zone Bars are the ony bars that allow them to stay in the Zone. Dr sears bars have been tested on diabetics and shown to keep insulin level in the Zone. He holds a patent on them in this regard. |
