Ok, I'm new to the Zone-and I get the basic concepts- but I have an issue with being a "picky eater". This helped me stay slim all the way up to turning 40 & now my metabolism has changed.

I HATE eggs- you couldn't pay me to eat an omlette, frittata etc.
I am also not a big salad eater- I like soup or lean cuisine type things for lunch at work. I could eat a salad here & there, but not every day.

I have read thru some of the menu items & dinners should be easy- I'm worried about breakfast & lunch.
Today I had a nectarine & some ricotta cheese w/ splenda & slivered almonds (a-la southbeach).
I have pistachios & string cheese for a snack- no idea what to eat for lunch yet- I'll run to the deli & grab a salad or the coffee shop & get some vegetable soup.

any thoughts to help me out as a newbie?
    thanks

You can have any 3 block meal you like for any meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. It doesn't have to conform to the traditional idea of breakfast. The recipes are simply suggestions. Some other breakfast ideas:

cottage cheese and berries with nuts

    low fat cheese and fruit

    a Zone balanced smoothie

cooked steel cut oats, protien powder, cinnnamon and almonds

cooked steel cut oats, cottage cheese and peanut butter (all mixed together)

    a bowl of chili

a bowl of chicken and veggie soup or stew

lentils and goat cheese (a delicious Zone recipe of cooked lentils, goat cheese, oilve oil lime juice, salt and pepper)

    Zone cereal and millk

    Zone bars

Zone pasta with olive oil and parmesan

    Zone shake

You can put together just about anything you can imagine using this info and Zone Food Blocks list as a guide:

If you have questions, I'll be happy to help.

    Have fun with it!

I'm picky too. I have been finding ways to avoid those things I don't like as well. I can't stand tomato, tuna, and I am not a big fan of cottage cheese. I just have found ways to use other things. There are enough carbs in the world to avoid tomato. The protien becomes more difficult, but I like shrimp, calamari, and adding fish oil to get essential fatty acids. I figure I am well practiced at being picky and now I have just become a bit more picky.
