:confused:SO I am broading my food selection and trying new recipes. Here are my questions.

1: Where can you by Fructose and Stevia? Also, can splenda just be put in their place?

    2. How many carb blocks are they, if any?

    Thank you!

You can buy Stevia (either raw, exctracted, or in liquid form)from any large chain health food stores. Since Stevia is not considerded a "food", you are more likely to find it in the section that has supplements.

As far as Slpenda goes, that's tough. I know some folks that actually switched from Splenda to Stevia because it costs less in the long run. As far as a nutriional comparision I can't tell since I never had Splenda. (I converted to Stevia from sugar.)

Can anyone else help me here??

I know that Stevia is used in the body as a plant, like a veggie, so you dont really have to count it at all. I use it. I've heard pros and cons on Splenda so I dont use it. Frustose is fine and I think it is swapped straight across or just use a little less than Sugar in recipes. Stevia can be used in recipes as well and I use the same as sugar. There is a Stevia website to tell you more.....I think its just stevia.com!

Alyssa, I bought some (stevia) yesterday in a health food store in Alamogordo NM. It is a small town where we do our grocery shopping (I live an hour and 10 minutes from there).

I tried some this morning. Had no idea how much to use. So I put a tsp in my oatmeal. Yuck!!!! It is super strong so when you use it start with very small amount.

Stevia is sweeter than sugar so you have to use way less of it...
Trty to stay away from splenda... although they make a big deal about being from sugar (which it is ...) the chemical process to make it non caloric actually makes it toxin for you body...
Do some research and youll see evry eye opening information.
For now i would stick to stevia since it's a plant that was been used for hundreds of years in South America with no side effects.

    Em,
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I do not live in California (which my husband and I wish we did). We are stuck here in Indiana (soon to be Ohio). I heard people talk about Trader Joe on here before and I have never heard of it before. I need to see it we have one around here.
