I would think I would know the answer to this question as I have followed the Zone Diet for the better part of 10 years. But with continuing problems with inflammation, I did some research and came up with eliminating foods high in arachidonic acid. Is that something that we need to do if we are following the Zoen Diet? Maybe I am missing something in my diet. I just want to not hurt anymore. I especially feel sore in my feet. If I take Advil, I don't hurt as bad but I do not like taking that. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance. By the way, this is the first time I have posted here. I just signed up today. I look forward to participating in the forums.

Welcome Terri! I'm a long time zoner, too. I think you'll like these forums. Lots of friendly knowledgeable people post here. Feel free to join in. I'll bet you have a lot of experience to share!

Yes, avoiding foods high in AA is a basic principle of the Zone Diet. Taking one of the Zone Labs fish oils together with eating the Zone Diet gives you a powerful inflammation lowering combination. You might also want to check with your doctor to try to determine the underlying cause of your pain so you can better address it.

I'll look forward to reading your posts!

Thank you Sue for your reply. I lost 90 pounds of fat 10 years ago! I gained 20 pounds of lean body mass so really on the scale, I only lost 70 pounds. I started taking the Zone Fish Oil just a couple of weeks ago and I am impressed so far. I have taken a few other brands but this one feels so much better. Never any after taste. I know I need to give it time. And honestly, I have been on vacation from the Zone for several months so my body is just going to take time to get back to that wonderful Zone feeling. There is nothing that feels better than being in the Zone!!!
I have been to the doctors and they all want me to take an anti-inflammatory and I am anti that advice! So I am going to stick with the Zone and the fish oil. I know I probably eat too much beef and therein lies AA. Tonight we had wild caught salmon. I don't eat eggs very often and I avoid night shade plants so hopefully I will feel great soon.
Congratulations on your wonderful success with the Zone Diet. It is the best isn't it? I worked with a man here in Boise that taught people how to eat in the Zone and I actually did support groups for him so we saw a lot of people lose a lot of weight. It was wonderful. That was about 7 years ago.
I am going to enjoy being a part of the forums. Thanks for the warm welcome!

    Hi Terri!

Congrats on your success! IMO, you can say you lost 90.

I noticed a big difference when I switched to Omega RX from the other brands I'd tried. Omega Rx lowered my BP allowed my high BP lower.  At that point my doctor recommended to stop the 2 high BP meds I'd been taking.

Interesting about the support groups you worked with. Sounds fun! You're in the Boise area! I used to have family in Priest Lake. I'm in CT.

And, thank you! I agree that the Zone is the best! It' so easy to do, you feel great, and I've met a lot wonderful people because of it!

    Have a fun weekend!

there is a book Inflammation Nation by Dr. Floyd Chilton, this guy spent all his life researching inflammation
and doing laboratory researches, he is saying there is 2 times more AA in chicken than in beef, and 3 times more AA in turkey than in beef.

He has a chart in his book what meat/ fish contains how much AA.
