As I was preparing my lunch today, I had a curious thought. What if there were restaurants that served only Zone food and beverages on their menu? The plan would be to make it a franchise and the restaurants be as numberous as some of the popular fast food restaurants. I think it would be a nice alternative because preparing each meal can be time consuming. We do have the zone bars and shakes for a quick "meal" yet it would be nice to have the option of stopping at the Zone drive-thru for a hot, delicious zone meal to go.

Would this be of interest to any Zoners? What are your thoughts?

I read something about Zone restaurants being developed at one time. It was a few years ago.. I haven't heard anything more about it. Legal Seafoods used to have Zone meals on the menu in some of their Boston locations. That was cool.

I've actually considered this in the past. I almost came up with a business plan. If you're serious about it, I think it could be very successful! :-)

I think it would be pretty tough business. I think the better possibility would be a restaurant that advertises and promotes healthy eating with a section on the menu that is "Zone Balanced".

You cannot convert everyone and you would miss out on a lot of business being a one trick pony.
Another thought is to have a food to go to supplement your business. You could have a zone meal to go program as well. If I recall there was a service available in Southern California (LA) that did just that.
The restaurant business is tough enough without limiting your customers.

It also depends on where you live. If you live in a really large city, it might work if you could advertise and let people know what the Zone is all about, there might be enough people to support it as only Zoned meals. Especially with the emphasis on healthy eating. And, especially if it was in a location close to a Spa or health club, etc. Its going to depend on the size of the city and the location more than anything.

If you really want to do it, but try it on a smaller scale, you might see if there is a health club or something similar where you could offer smoothies and bars, light items for healthy zoned snacks as people come out of workout sessions, etc. As the info and interest grow, start asking regulars how they'd like a full restaurant of Zoned foods, if they'd support it , etc. That would be a way to "try it out" in your area while making some money to put toward the restaurant.

    Aspiring:

I've also thought that would be a great concept for a restaraunt. Would you post a menu as blocks instead of small, medium and large?

    Just a thought.
