For all I know, I completely dreamed this thought. "Enter The Zone" speaks of egg yolks as having arachidonic (looks like arachnid to me) acid. Now I heard that this is true of grain fed layers but not organic grass fed layers as we have at our local coop. Would egg yolks from these orgnic grass fed chickens be a favorable fat? Or am I making up fiction out of whole cloth? Thanks Stephanie |

my perception is that any egg yokes are bad, the only things you want from eggs are the whites which are a terrific "protein" source. However i cant even remember the last time ive had an egg, but my suggestion is to just get your fats from almonds- thats what i do and i like it becuase not only are they easy to carry around whenim at school but there easy to be accurate with, as far as grams go. |

I'm not sure if there is any definitive Zone-data on the difference. I know that for my breakfast I'm going to eat real food--free range, organic eggs are part of my diet. I'll have 6-8 eggs a week. I'm not one to change the foods we have evolved to eat. Egg white omelets and protein powder are not on my list of 'acceptable' foods. Give me natural foods as close to the source as possible. The perceived minutia of the Zone sometimes overwhelms my sensibilities; or more simply--eat pre-industrialized foods. As Michael Pollan tells us, 'eat food, not too much, mostly plants' Tom |

yeah, ive been trying to go more all natural and really got into the chapter on the "evolution of the zone"... If it was here 20,000 years ago, its probrably pretty good for you. People back then basically ate a zone diet which explains why they were so much healthier. What do you have for your carb choices: mostly fruits and veggies then? I stil have protein powder with my workout shakes though bc proteins a hard thing to have on the run, espeically in a specific amount, which is neccessary in the zone, at least for me |
