I'm wondering if someone can tell me how I'm doing in my first week of the Zone.

    A typical day for me:

    Breakfast is either:

3/4 cups low fat cottage cheese
    3 cups of strawberries
    teaspoon of almond slivers

    OR

One regular ol' egg and two turkey sausage links with fruit - usually 1.5 cup grapes, 3 cups strawberries (rare!) or one whole apple.

    mid morning snack:

    1/2 green apple
1 stick of part skim string cheese
tsp. natural no sugar added peanut butter - I know this is more than recommended but will it hinder my weight loss or zone-ness?

    Lunch:

1 low carb whole wheat tortilla with either 1/4 to 1/2 cup black beans, sprouts, tomatoes, lite sour cream (teaspoon) and a dribble of salsa

with a side of grapes (varies depending on how many black beans I put on the taco) 1/2 cup or strawberries 1 cup and usually a few sprinkles of nuts - less than a teaspoon.

    OR

1 low carb tortilla with sliced deli turkey, avacado 1-3 teaspoons/slices depending on what else I'm having, spinach, tomato and either strawberries, grapes or an apple on the side(same as above)

Dinner is usually chicken and a salad with oil and balsamic vinagarette and really varies too much to list but is in the zone.

I really like grapes with balsamic vinagarette and a little olive oil - sometimes I have this with cheese for a zone snack too.

    Any information would be wonderful.

    Thanks!

    Hi Samantha!

Great start! There are a couple issues, but they're common newbie mistakes that you'll work out (missing some fat in breakfast, missing protein in the first lunch selection, etc.).

There's one thing that stands out, the amount of fruit you're eating. To be in the Zone, more of your carbs should come from veggies than fruit (find more info in the EATING tab). Eating most of yours carbs from fruit will make it difficult to lower insulin into the Zone and keep it there.

    Keep up the good work!
