What about non fat creamer in my coffee??? How about any cream? Do I have to combine with a protein & a carb for a complete block? Just to drink coffee?

Thank you so much for my snack bag and all the snacks nancy. i feel more secure now and that makes me less likely to cheat --or worse, binge. I know this is guilt free, but when I getfrustrated, i sabotage. I went to patty's tonight before my run and she had the book too! I like my new book with the post its. Not sure if they're the same actually... Thanks for helping me succeed. I really do want better health and a better body. It will take a while, I know, but I am not in a hurry. xo

Since I don't use the product, I'm not familiar with the amounts of P and/or C in it, if any. Simply go by the nutrition label on the creamer. If its only a gram or two of either, I wouldn't bother to count it as anything.

The coffee would be the bigger issue, unless it's decaf. Caffeine elevates insulin levels.

    Hi Jill!

I am a coffee drinker (decaf), and I use half and half, if I add cream to it. Either that or the powdered stuff. Probably the best choice is to add a splash of skim or 1% milk to it instead of cream.

The problem with creamer is that it is a poor choice for fat, but it isn't a large quantity, and it also balances out with a gram of protein and a gram of carb. The problem with the powdered creamer is that it is a "corn syrup" product, which is unfavorable carb in the Zone. At least, not a large quantity here, either. But, sometimes we need to consider these things.

Green tea is a much better substitute for coffee... I made the switch a couple of years ago and I am perfectly happy with it. :)

I have coffee as it comes: black. First I switched from sugar to sweetener; then lost the sweetener completely; last I dropped the milk / cream too. Each step seemed impossible before I took it, and each step was a lot easier than I thought. 2 weeks is all it takes and you'll wonder how you ever had coffee with milk or cream.

I drink decaf tea, or herbal tea, steeped a long time, instead of coffee, with cream or creamer and a bit of sugar, sometimes stevia. The green tea is better for you they say but sometimes has too much caffeine in it for me.
Bev, I do think thats what CBCat means, but maybe she will be on later to answer for sure. If you drink a lot of cream, you might have to count it but if only a bit, I dont think so. Dont have to be that precise.
