The only hot dogs I can find whether they are fat free or not contain 4-6g of carbs and no fiber. That would put this recipe over in carb blocks. Do I not need to count them? [i:576a86bbcd]Grandma's Hot Dogs and Peppers 3 blocks Jenn Very simple and delicious! Takes 10 minutes to make. 1 teaspoon olive oil 2 green peppers 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup salsa 3 turkey hot dogs (no fat) Heat oil in frying pan. Chop onion and peppers and saute in oil. Cover and let simmer until peppers and onions are soft. Slice hot dogs into small round pieces and add to pan. Add salsa and stir. Cover pan and let simmer until hot dogs are cooked. Remove from heat and place on plate. Add any carbohydrate block you wish to go along with your meal.[/i:576a86bbcd]

You might look for soy "hot dogs," but soy things (like "Boca" products, for example) also contain part carb and not too much fiber. Except the veggie crumbles that you use in Chili, Lasagne, etc., those are fairly low carb. I always evaluate patties or "hot dog" type things on a carb-to-protein ratio, picking the highest protein per least carb. Then I see how they taste. I like the Boca Italian sausages--- they are 2 P each and there is some carb and fat, you just have to count. Also the original Boca burger patties are not bad, and they are close to 3 P. I just read the nutrition label carefully and then count. And know that a chicken breast is always going to work better than a burger pattie or soy hot dog. Keeps the math simple. Take care Kate

Thanks Kate419. I used Oscar Meyer fat free turkey hot dogs and each hot dog contained 6g P and 3g C. I made the above recipe and used 3 1/2 hot dogs and counted them as 1C. I felt fine after so I guess I did the right thing. I still have some left so I am going to cut a flour tortila up and wrap the strips around them with a little cheese and bake them in the oven. Thanks again for your help.
