I know this is an old post but since I'm eating one right now I thought I'd chime in. I bought a box of Zone Perfect bars at Wal-Mart thinking they were The Zone Diet recommended ones. I never would have thought otherwise had I not read this thread. But this Zone Perfect bar seems to be a good 2 block snack of 14g protein, 23 carbs, and 6g fat. They taste great and keep me full for a long time. The only thing I don't like is they have corn syrup in them. But yes, whole unprocessed foods are always my first choice. |

If you look, you can get bars with exactly the .75 ratio of protein to carbs and with only 3 ingredients (almond, honey, whey). I think they taste better than anything else, as well, and, to me, give a much more solid zone response than most other options. Jon |

JOh, you must be talking about the Boomi Bars! I really like them a lot, and I am also impressed by the ingredients label. I have seen another bar, forgot what it was called, but I had seen it at Whole Foods. Basically another bar that has very few ingredients. I am hoping I can make the trip to WF on Friday to pick up some things, so maybe I can remember to check out the name of this bar. |

<div class='NTForums_Quote'>Posted By Chris on 03/31/2009 7:47 AM Are these here the ones you're talking about? </div> Yes. Only real drawback is high amount of fat--I have trouble digesting them during an intense workout, so instead use another whey and almond butter based bar. Always interested to learn about other simple options... |

I was thinking, since the ingredients are so simple, why not make them yourself? Has anyone done that? |

<div class='NTForums_Quote'>Posted By Cranberrycat on 03/31/2009 12:55 PM I was thinking, since the ingredients are so simple, why not make them yourself? Has anyone done that? </div> I've tried it and it's a pain. It's not so easy to mix the ingredients smoothly (without killing your wrist) and then it's messy to put globs of the goop into saran wrap. Then they also need to be refrigerated... You can get boomi bars (Almond Protein) from Amazon really inexpensively (with autoship (easy to cancel) you get 15% discount and free shipping) Jon |

so do you only buy the zone bars that are off the website, or do you buy the regular zone bars in the store? |

I only use the Dr. Sears Zone bars that are sold on this site. I've tried others but haven't ever found one that keeps me in the Zone (I ended up hungry, spacy, and light headed 1-2 hours after after eating the others). |

I was quite "miffed" to buy two boxes of zone perfect bars to find out that they are not in the zone. Very misleading for those just starting out on the zone diet. I guess I'll use these up but won't buy them again. |
