Several years ago I posed a question to my doctor on what type of eating plan would help me lose weight. She suggested the Zone diet. So for several years I have read the books and attempted the Zone but haven't been able to consistently stay on the Zone track. Well..I'm wanting to try again. This past year I had lost 30 lbs (not by using the Zone) and because of various reasons I fell off track and not only gained the 30 lbs back but 10 more just to spite me. I'm in my late 20's and I don't want to stay on this track of being overweight. I foolishly believed the government when told to eat plenty of pastas, breads and the like when I was in my late teens early 20's and now I'm paying for it. I tried the Atkins diet but it made me more hungry. About the only thing I haven't done is starve myself. I joined the forums here for more information and assistance in keeping myself on track. Last year I purchase a software program that monitors what I eat (how I lost the initial 30 lbs) and I love it. After I stopped using it I gained the weight back. I'm not here to promote anything but if you're interested in what software I'm using let me know. I work an odd shift which makes it hard to plan meal time and snack time. I don't want to go into alot of details or this post will be incredibly long Anyhow, hello everyone. I'm happy to be here.

Welcome Zone4me. This is a great place to come. And the Zone is a great lifestyle. I've dropped 26 pounds since last Christmas and kept it off with the Zone. I do journal my food, but that is more to track physical symptoms (it doesn't hurt that I see the calories tho! ;-) I totally understand the foolish belief in the government. I am a vegetarian who fell into that trap, too. Who knew? Dr. Sears, at least! I still have friends who tell me, well, they mean whole wheat - like 12 ounces of whole wheat pasta is THAT much better than the white stuff. But I don't even want it any more. I've still got 3 Tupperware containers in my pantry that I haven't eaten in the last year. I think I've had less than 2 cups of it in the last year - and that was mostly eating out. Potatoes, the same. And I feel a gazillion times better than I ever have. I've now got two of my three sisters starting in the Zone. Stick with it. It's well worth it. Happy New Year, Robbin
