Any zoners from the UK out there? I'd love to exchange ideas about the zone and zoned foods in the UK.

I've just seen your message and see you've not heard from anyone yet - have you had any private replies? Are you still doing the Zone? I did it 3 years ago and found it very effective in losing weight but extremely difficult because of the language barrier. I eventually was reduced to eating salads, got bored and gave up. I have severe difficulty controlling weight even though I don't eat much, so after Christmas I tried the Montignac diet. This is also about cutting out the high glycaemic carbs but says you can eat what you want otherwise. Lots of meat, cheese, eggs and veg. I didn't miss the carbs, enjoyed my food and felt well on it, but I didn't lose any weight. I've just restarted the Zone but am having the same old problem plus I'm really missing the fat. The Americans seem to have carb cravings, but I dream of lashings of olive oil - by the tablespoon, not the third of a teaspoon. There seems to be no interest in promoting the Zone outside America, and no Brits so far have picked up the baton and translated it into English. Using cups is a particularly ludicrous way to measure anything as the weight will vary depending on the item and its packing density. It would make sense to use grams, since that is how blocks are measured and they are universal. I've also found anomalies in the "net carb" concept. Look up something you can identify in a zone book and it will tell you that net carbs are actual carb weight minus fibre. Look at any prepacked salad in a British supermarket and you will find there is more fibre than carb, leading to negative carbs. Look up the lettuce in a Zone book and it will tell you that so many cups of that lettuce are a block - so what happened to the fibre? I'm thinking there are too many anomalies. Maybe I should go back to Montignac but reduce the fat. How have you been getting on?

Hi there Uk folk! Yes grams are the way to go! Forget the cups and just read the labels. Aim for 7gms protein, 9gms carb & 3 gms fat per block and [i:01fe32b172]you'll be right mate[/i:01fe32b172]. See if you can find a web sie that gives you the neutritional values for foods in the UK. I say that because I have found that there are considerable differences between the USA foods and the Oz foods ( particularly with fruits) . I just did a search in Google on "nutritional values": .uk and found several sites that you could peruse. this one gave common fruit and veg: http://www.co-op.co.uk/ext_1/Develo...enDocument and this:http://www.dietandfitnessresources.co.uk/shop where they sell a Calorie Carb and fat book. Have you read DrSears Zone meals without measuring. that is excellent. http://www.drsears.com/drsearspages/enterthezonepg.jsp I wold certainly encourage you to give it another go. If you are keen on spread sheets i have a spread sheet that I use that is in grams. You would have to find yourself a souce for the UK values and then you could jsut substitute them for my values. le me know. and now to FAT: I LOVE my oil nad I 'm sure I have been more thn heavy handed in my quantities from time to time - (wouldnt dream of measuring the amont that I put on my daily salad- Yum). But I dont think that matyters. I consider myself a person who has always eaten more oil ( fat) than most others and that's fine for me. so let yourself have a little more anyway GIVE IT A GO! You'll feel great and then look great too. cheers Top

    Hi IO...I'm Sandra from UK

Its been nearly 5 years since your original thread and the baton has now been passed on via UK Channel 5...showing how Manuel Uribe lost 570 pounds.

Wanting to know has he lost anymore weight is how I got to know about the Zone.
