I live in the Raleigh area and was hoping I might find a local buddy.
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.

Hi, I was very inspired when i happen to find Manuels story on line.. If he can lose over 500 #'s while bedridden, surely to the Lord i can lose the 100 #'s I need to. I live in the Norlina/ Henderson area.

Hi, I was hoping someone would answer.. I have seen so many diets and went with some of them, turned out to be mostly hype... they made sense at first , like the "thyroid diet" .. It would be great to have someone that has actually benefited from this one. I have some questions, if you have time to answer them... Thanks and have a blessed day... Wilma Yates

    You're welcome Wilma!

I'll be glad to help! I'll watch for your questions.

To let you know a little bit about me, I've been eating this way almost 14 years. The result I had immediately was the disappearance of daily blood sugar drops I'd experienced for years. It was like getting my life back; no more lightheadedness, no more feeling shaky and faint, etc. I lost 100 pounds during the first 2 years (size 22 to size 8) and I've kept it off every since. With the addition of Omega Rx fish oil my high blood pressure disappeared and my doctor took me off the 2 high BP meds I'd been taking for years. That alone was such a relief! The high BP meds had not been lowering my blood pressure into normal ranges, plus really disliked the side effects I'd had from those 2 meds. I've since switched to Eico Rx fish oil. Both of those fish oils I mentioned are Dr. Sears Zone fish oils. I'd also tried 3 or 4 other brands , but none of them had lowered my high blood pressure.

Good luck to you as you begin the Zone. Let us know how you're doing!

Hi, thanks for getting back so quickly.... I guess I want to know , if I don't strictly adhere to the diet, will it work? I'm not talking about any eating binges.. just since i've retired , no more regimens.... The biggest problem I have is degenerative arthritis in my joints, my legs kill me, I am slowly starting to exercise, and will begin walking now that the weather has cooled ...I have written a grocery list with the major ingredients for Zone meals.I will be ordering the fish oil when my check comes in.. I'm sorry for going in circles, but i'm still leary of a diet that , so far i've found no loop holes in. Thanks for yoyr patience, and if that's you in pic on the left, you look great !!! Have a Blessed Day... WK Yates

    You're welcome Wilma!

The Zone has a lot of flexibility. As long as you eat your block requirement every day and follow the Basic Zone Rules you should do well (the rules are in Quick Start Guide; see link at right). It will fit right into your retirement lifestyle. I don't have a regimented lifestyle, with the timing of my work and activities varying from day to day, and I find it very easy to do the Zone.

Great that you're going to begin walking and taking fish oil! I have friends and family with arthritis who've had excellent results with Zone fish oil.

Yes, that's me in the picture. Thanks for the compliment! That photo was taken last Sunday. If you scroll over the meal photo in my signature and click on the link when it appears, you can view my photo album. It contains my before and after pictures ( I lost 100 pounds), and pictures of some of my Zone meals and snacks.

Have fun as you begin the Zone, and keep us updated!
