Hi everyone
My sister gave birth to "twins" (actually from two different eggs) when she was seven months pregnant; it was a c-section because the babies were too crowded inside her to grow any more.
It has been two months. The babies are very colicky, crying continually, and do not sleep much at all it seems. My sister and significant others are up most of the night looking after the babies. Of course, one baby starts crying, the other does too I would expect.
One baby isn't smiling at all as she "should" be developmentally so my sister is very worried. There's mention of reflux problems, of one baby not taking in much liquid and being in danger of being dehydrated, and also apparently one baby may have to be operated on to have a value fixed or something.
What should I pass on to my sister that could help her babies calm down, grow more healthliy, and so forth?
Also, what rationale should I give her as to why she should try this or that?
Also, if any of you have any personal experience similiar to hers and you solved at least partially the situation, please share. I will pass on that and it may encourage her to try out...whatever.
Thanks.
Alexy...
p.s. why is it that I am no longer notified when a reply is posted? I have to check in frequently! I do keep the check in the check-in box :-( Any of you have this problem as well or is it just me? |

about colic i am sure that you will find that the theories and remedies abound. my babe had 8 weeks of indigestion and it ended up being a very tiny amount of caffeine i was srinking (less than a cup) she also had mild reflux with lots of hiccups. i had to lay her on a slight incline (of sit her up in an infant chair)for 45 min after each feed until she was about 6 weeks old.(the stroller in full recline still was about 20 degrees upright and this seemed to work well. must be so hard with twins. good luck.p |

Hi There!
Thanks, appreciate it. Will pass it on to her!
Yes it's tough with twins - one cries, the other cries too!

I don't know what it is, but my sister-in-law (mother of twins, age 3, pregnant again!!!) suggested something called "grape water" which is available online and at some pharmacies. I really am no expert, but gave this advice to my cousin, who is a nurse, and it worked very well for her colicky son. Since she's a nurse, I would hope she had checked to make sure it's OK. I don't know what it is, but my sister-in-law swore up and down that it saved her life, kept telling me so I would remember when we have kids. My cousin also said it worked like a charm!
Anyone know what this is?

I used it when my kids were small...it is actually called gripe water. It is also useful for motion sickness, Commercial fishermen use it for seasickness. The brand I used was named Woodwards Gripe water. Hope this helps |
