Hi Everone, Just a quick note to let you know my PC bit the dust overnight , so I'll be a little scarce around here until I get a replacement (hopefully in a couple days). Happy holidays! |

Yep, nightmare...understatement. We back up on an external drive, but still lost some stuff. Still have a few ways we might be able to get at it though. Love my new laptop.
Happy new yr to you too!

Been through that, myself! Not fun. Even a few years ago, I would not have dreamed that I would depend so much on a computer for everyday life! There is so much more to do, and I find that the more time I spend in front of the computer, the less I get done everywhere else! LOL So, sometimes I have to take myself on a computer holiday, and break away from surfing, emails, message boards, etc. There is a lot of life out there to be had! |

Hmm...not the direction I was taking it to when I agreed with Colin. The tough part for us is that we have some important financial files locked up in the broken hard drive at the moment, along with our daughter's and son-in law's recent PhD graduation pics. You know, one of those important milestone moments that only happens once in a lifetime. First place that worked on it couldn't retrieve the files, but we still have a couple other options available. |

Sue, Not sure what you mean by "direction". I agree that we all use our computers for things that we may not have even dreamed of using them for in the past. AND, as for me, I am not very good at "backing up" my files, which is generally a very important thing to do, but just gets forgotten. We trust that the information will be there right up until something fails, and then all of a sudden, it is gone! My point (in case it wasn't clear in the previous post) is that no matter what information we store or use on our PC's, it is not nearly as important as getting up from that chair and living our lives. |
