Sometimes it is really difficult to communicate emotion and tone, but it really makes it easier to use the smileys to pass on a smile or an "oh, no". However, it is really difficult to use the smileys on this site, because they just don't seem to work! Here is a smiley face: :) Also, when many people post on a thread, it is difficult for everyone to know whose post you are responding to. The quote function helps out a lot, but in the old forum, the font was different (was it a different color, can't quite remember now), and it was distinguishable from the rest of the reply. Now, it is really difficult to follow a post if the quote function has been used. Just wondering when we could expect to see these features working properly? :) |

Sadly there's a few things broken on this forum. The "My Forums" section for example, also the Notify me by Email option. |

Cranberry and Colin, You might also want to post about these issues in the "Website Feedback" forum. It's a forum specifically to address technical problems with the website. |

I was assuming that the "Website Feedback" forum was for the website, and that this forum was for comments specifically about the forum. |

Does this have anything to do with the closing of www.zonediet.com? I just got an email stating that the site will be closing soon. I used to participate in the message boards there very frequently (and really enjoyed them, very easy to use). |

Besides the smilies not working, I don't get email notification even though I've selected it in my profile. Thanks! Troy |

Hi Troy!
That forum used to be listed on the first page which shows an index of all the forum selections. It's no longer there. BTW, it's not only you; those featured don't work for any of us. |

Hey Sue! Oh Good! I don't like being the only one not knowing why my stuff doesn't work! I notice some of these complaints going back awhile....are the Zone techs understaffed? |

Good question, Troy! I would LOVE to see some of these issues resolved, but no one seems to know that they are a problem. I wonder if anyone really moderates these forums? |

Hi CC!, Does anyone else have problems with a "reply" page not responding? Sometimes I have to cut what I've typed, then paste it in a new screen more than once to make it go. BTW; I got your spreadsheets, they look great! You have a lot more information than me. The micro-nutrients was a good idea - I was trying to start out small. I haven't had time to work on them at all lately. I'm trying to learn how to make the interface easier to add the food types. Excel is powerful but may not be the right tool for the job. A database might actually work better for what I'm trying to accomplish - maybe Access or a program for my MAC. cheers, Troy |

Here's another observation:
Because the forum is missing these functions, specifically notification of a new message post, the website loses traffic because people forget to check back.
The ford truck enthusiasts forum that I visit sends me emails all the time - I almost alway go check and reply. I would expect that zonediet.com would want more traffic and would keep the site maintained. More traffic would mean more indirect sales of products.
I will say that the Ford site encourage membership, and for $19.95 you get the full version of the editor, less advertisements and some other functions that you don't get with the free package. I happily paid the yearly membership because I got so much help that it paid for itself about 10 times over. I was going down the wrong path for a repair that would have cost over a $1000, yet with proper direction I found it was a $60 part.
Anyways, maybe that's why this site seems to get minimal maintenance - it doesn't provide revenue (directly) so it takes a back shelf.
Thoughts? |
