:)Hello there. just joined tonight. My doctor seems to think this may help me better than weight watchers due to a possible health problem I may have. I am from Upstate NY. Anyone with advice or how about some support?

    Hi Denise,

The Zone is better than WW, even if you don't have a possible health problem! :-)

My tip is to have fun with it. Don't get caught up in counting every little gram. Follow the simple Zone rules, and don't get cautght up in measuring every little gram. That isn't necessary. I lost 100 pounds by eating as shown in these basic zone rules in Quick Start Guide: http://www.zonediet.com/EATING/Quic...fault.aspx

    I didn't measure a thing.

For best results focus on eating lots of veggies and fruit for your carb, and take fish oil (Omega Rx or Eico Rx).

There are lots of friendly experienced zoners here with great advice. I'll be glad to help if you have questions. BTW, I live in Connecticut.

Lost 100 lbs 18 yrs ago, off BP meds, thanks to the Zone diet and Zone fish oil.

Hey Denise, I am in the Capital Region area...Albany, Schenectady, Troy. Where are you? Notice that Jamie is also in upstate NY. (So I answered her post too.)

Am just starting the Zone and finding it somewhat daunting. How are you doing? Noticed you posted in March.

Hi all - upstate New York by Cooperstown. Just started today....need to go out and buy some books. Hoping this does the trick for me. Need to lose at least 50 - hoping that will help the knees (OA) and the fatigue!
Reading these forums seems very helpful.

Hi all, I am just starting the Zone. I am located in upsate NY in the Malone area. I tried the Abs Diet which did give me good results but am starting Crossfit as well and it seems they all swear by it. Hope it helps. So far the problems that I am running into is with a schedule that is always changing in my 12 hour work days, i find it hard to keep on track with eating times. The other problem I am having is eating all the food, i'm not used to eating so much. But if anyone wants to chat let me know.

When you use that term Upstate, remember there's a TON of upstate. I'm over on Cayuga Lake and am just starting Zone dieting. I'm actually just printing out the week menu, grocery list, etc. I've tried absolutely every diet under the sun. I tried Zone a long time ago trying to go by the book, but I found it difficult. I'm hoping I'll be more successful with someone else planning out the menu and portions so I don't have to THINK that hard.

My problem is that since I remarried almost 5 years ago, my hubby has taught me the love of Tex/Mex food (he's originally from San Antonio). That is not helping. Add to that my bloodwork showed I was perimenopausal one year and the next completely postmenopausal, and the plunge (shall I say high dive) in estrogen levels is wreaking havoc with every part of me. The less estrogen I've had the more waist I've gained.

I just went up to a size 18 jeans and I could cry. I need something that's doable, sustainable and will work. I've never tried looking for a weightloss pal before, but all the statistics suggest it could work. So here I am. Anybody else need someone to lean again (I won't say lean on since we'll both be leaning).

The one thing interesting we're doing next week is taking a cruise. I know that a lot of cruise lines have some interesting health lectures in their spas so I checked out this one. Guess what? They offer a 1 hour Zone lecture! Hah! That made me decide it was worth trying to get in the groove before we left on the trip.

And I've checked out Sherlock Holmes' finds in restaurants. I plan to print those out to give me ideas what I can eat at different restaurants (we always fly a day or two early to make sure our luggage makes it, too).

Looking forward to meeting other Upstate Zoners out there.
