Hi!
I've been in the Zone for three days now. I decided to start because I wanted to be healthy.
Since I've started, I've been feeling great. I have more energy and I don't feet stuffed and bloated after eating. By the way, I used to eat a lot of pasta. I've been following the indications in A Week in the Zone. I feel full after a meal. However, about two or three hours later, I'm hungry again.
I was wondering if I could add a snack : one the morning, one the afternoon and one before going to bed. Would that be ok?
Thanks for your help! :)

Don't add any blocks; if you want to add a snack simply spread your daily blocks out into smaller meals. If you feel hungry within a few hours you are doing one or both of the following: Eating too many UNfavorable carbs, or not eating enough fat. An additional microblock or two of monounsaturated fat will stave off hunger longer without affecting your hormone balance. |

Three days may not be enough time to get your blood sugar levels into the zone. Try to be as strict as you can (avoid unfavorable carbs) for now, until you have yourself leveled out. For my husband, it took at least a week. The advice in the above reply is good. Try drinking more water (a squirt of lemon makes it tasty), too. Favorable carbs help, too (3 cups broccoli, 2 tomatoes and 1 1/2 cups of green beans will keep you full for a long time!).
Good luck!

Pay attention to your hunger. If hungry with good mental focus you may need to add a carb block. If hunger is accompanied by sleepy/sluggishness you will need to drop a carb. Finding the protein-carb ratio that's right for you will control blood-sugar and hunger for the next 4-6 hours. As mentioned previously, make sure you are getting enough fat (9g in a 3-block meal). |
