Here are my latest results which were just taken after 11 months on the Zone and 2 months of PGFO supllementation: 1/2003 / 11/2003 HDL: 33 / 48 LDL: 172 / 109 Trig 157 / 71 Trig / HDL Ratio @ start of Zone: 4.75 Trig / HDL Ratio @ 11/2003 1.48 This is the first time in my life that I've ever had results that were ALL WITHIN THE NORMAL RANGE. Great eh? Now....in January of this year, I also had my liver enzymes checked. My SPGT and SGOT were both in the 50's and I got a stern warning to "quit drinking" (I hardly ever drink) and that I had signs of "fatty liver disease". My current levels of both liver enzymes are now at 21! When I went in for my results at the appointment window, the nurse informed me that THE DOCTOR WANTED TO SPEAK WITH ME. I of course thought this was bad news. What the doctor wanted was to congratulate me and have me explain to his staff what I was doing that allowed such impressive reults without the use of medications! Once again, I must thank Barry Sears for affording me the knowledge and opportunity to make a potentially life altering change to my life in just less than a year. Jim

All your numbers are really good. (You didn't put down Total Cholesterol) Your TG/HDL ratio will be spectacular with a touch of exercise and lower glycemic carbs. That's my guess. Perhaps the biggest compliment is that your doctor asked you to speak to the staff! When I went for my physical, my Dr. was harried and spent half the time fondly remembering his vacation! [b:16ed1a80a7]Your[/b:16ed1a80a7] accomplishment will now benefit others. That's great! Keep up the good work, Charlie

Hi Charlie..and thanks :) I think that the reason the triglycerides are where they are might be due to the fact that I eat shrimp 2X a week? I know that they are naturally high in triglycerides according to things that I've read. I really don't eat anything other than low glycemic index carbs EXCEPT FOR MY NIGHTLY BRYERS LIGHT ICE CREAM. Don't worry...I have less that 1/2 cup and match it up with cottage chese. As far as excercise is concerened, I have no dobts that it will help drop LDL and help to raise HDL. I'll have to get a printout to get the total Cholesterol. The results were obtained by the bnnurse over the phone from the lab as the paperwork hadn't come back yet (I was antsy to see the results). I do know that it was well under 200 but I didn't write that one down. Relatively speaking..is it really that important or are the individual counts and tri / HDL ration more telling of things? Jim

Well, I'm guessing exercise would make your TG drop, too. Congrats, Charlie

Howdy :) I have no doubt that the pgfo helped....I only wished that I had gotten a later baseline done just when I began the PGFO and then a follow up 6 months later. Oh well! Thanksgiving was wonderful and I ate zoned via my eyeballs. I will admit that I had an extra 4 ozs of wine or so but it didn't kill me. I consider it a major accomplishment that I didn't feel like a bloated pig after dinner and the scale didn't move one bit after having been at my mother in laws while everyone pigged out over the weeeknd. Hmmmm.....guess this is who I am now eh? Jim
