How should wine be factored into the zone lifestyle? Am i right in thinking that this should be counted as a carb? How many ounces would be classed as 1 carb block?

    Thanks

I thought we could have a glass of red wine and an ounce of low fat cheese as a night time snack. Says so in my book:). I'm searching in the book for permission to eat dark chocolate. Any thoughts on that one? laugh:wow:

    You can have wine!

You can have a little dark chocolate now and then, too. Look for those with a very high cocoa content (above 70 or 80%). They are much lower in carbohydrate than their lower cocoa content counterparts, although they do contain a fair amount of fat. I buy Dagoba Eclipse bars sometimes  (87% cocoa content). One entire 2 oz bar contains only 1 1/3 C blocks. I break off a small piece at a time, which amounts to only a gram of so of carbohydrate, not even necessary to count. I do make sure to eat it fairly soon after a meal of a snack, so I'm not eating carbohydrate by itself.

I've always really liked chocolate but have never really been a chocoholic. However, since I've started being more diligent about living in the zone than I have at times in the past, I've really developed a taste for it. In case anyone else has had difficulty finding chocolate with a high enough cocoa content while also being Fair Trade, Martin's grocery stores have two brands that I really like that are also organic. They're called "Endangered Species" (88% cocoa) and "Equal Exchange" (80% cocoa).
