Has anyone tried this stuff yet?
It's basicly almond milk. It comes sweetened and unsweetened and is also flavored with vanilla or chocolate. The chocolate is not unsweetened. For 8oz., it's 40 calories! Here's some more nutritional info:
    3g. fat,1g fiber,0g. sugar,1g. protein,
2g.carbs, and it's low glycemic,non-dairy,gluten free,no cholesteral, animal ingredients or hormones. No saturated fat or added oils, low in sodium and enriched with calcium, vitamins D,E and a good source of vitamin A. It's good by the glass,in coffee, smoothies and cereal(oatmeal!)You can use it in recipes in replace of milk!
So Zoners, is it Zone approved? I was thinking a block of fat!

Hi Kim, It does sound good. Where are you from though? I would probably not be able to get it here in Australia...thats the bummer. I'll have a look in some health food shops though...some Zone products are starting to appear, so maybe I'll be lucky here too. I did buy some Almond Butter, which is very nice too.

I was wondering about this too. . . I took a look at the nutritional label. 8 oz of the Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk only provides 1 g of carb, 1 g of protein, and 2.5 g of fat. I was told that the predominant macronutrient is the one that the food is categorized under. So this Almond Milk is considered a fat.

I did some quick math. . . 1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk contains 2.5 g of fat. 2.5g/8oz = .3125 grams of fat per ounce. If 1 black of fat is 1.5 g, then 1.5g/.3125g = 4.8 . . . 4.8 ounces of this almond milk delivers 1 block of fat. Check my math, but I think I did right.

I use almond milk almost exclusively for protein shakes. I'm experimenting with rounding the 4.8 oz to 5 oz, counting it as 1 block of fat and adding an extra 3 oz of water for volume (the added volume makes it easier for my blender to work properly), or I'll round down to 4 oz of almond milk, use a whole 8 oz of almond milk, and count it as 2 blocks of fat. I realize this last option cuts the fat content a little short - I'm not sure how exact the measurements need to be in order to get the hormonal effect we're looking for.

I'm going to talk to my CrossFit coach about it though to make sure I'm not messing anything up. I LOVE the Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla!!

Yes, correct on the one bock of fat. You can also simply use the 8 ounces of unsweetened almond milk and call it 1 F block. That additional gram of fat is inconsequential. If anything it will enhance your ability to control insulin; it does not contain enough fat/calories to interfere with your hormonal response to the meal or with the loss loss of stored fat.

Yes, and it doesn't have to be the USA Almond Breeze brand of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk.
There are non-refrigerated boxed versions; however, they have additional (unwanted) non-natural ingredients.
Also look at Coconut milk, unsweetened, it can be similar with a slightly different taste.
