I am a professional soccer player,I would like to make a question..Can anyone think of an easy to digest snack, which I could consume at my halftime? It only lasts for 15 minutes.I have thought about a zone bar,but I am afraid I will not have the time to digest it...I have also thought about something liquid with protein, olive oil,but cannot think of an appropriate carb.Any suggestion would be very helpful...I would also like to ask whether there is any GLA supplement which I can take about 40-50 mg per day...Is it true that if I take a bigger amount of GLA,let's say 240-300 once a week,it is ok and I have the same benefit,as if I was taking daily an amount of 40 mg?
    Thanks in advance.

You should have a look at the 'omega rx zone' book and its section on athletic performance. One thing that stood out was the idea that, contrary to popular belief, increased carbs before and during a performance actually diminished the performance of athletes.. whereas following an insulin balanced diet and substituting high dose fish oil produced a highly favourable hormonal balance. ( an average dose of pharmacutical grade fish oil is somewhere around 2500 mg per day! ) if I could afford it i would be doing this but I am a poor student !
As for half time i guesse something that is readily absorbable to the body.. whey protein isolate targets damged muscle fibre immediately and fruit juice is quickly absorbed into the blood stream for energy.. squeezed orange would be ideal.

p.s what team do you play for?

I paly for a 2nd division team in Greece called HAIDARI,you can't have heard of it anyway...I have an objection though...You suggested orange juice...But juice, would not have the fibres,so the glycemic index would be very high...Is this ok?I do not think so...

I think it is going to be difficult to find a snack that digests quickly enough, without being an unfavorable snack.

But, one idea comes to mind, do you think a glass of milk or soymilk would work?
