My heart puls are now quiet 20 higher at rest ! I hope you understand me because it's difficult to write in English. Another problem is fatigue (not always) and hot instant during the night and also during the day.

How can I do with this ? Overall for my heart puls ? My training are based on !

Hi,

Yes I remember you. :)

IMO, a change in heart rate accompanied by fatigue, as you describe, is a matter to take up with your physician. I'm not qualified to advise you about that. I'd sugget you find a physician who is informed of the needs of long distance runners (an example: as I understant, some runners have lower iron stores and dr's not familiar with this might mistake it for anemia).

As for the hot flashes, It will probably help to be sure to have strict ahderence to the Zone diet accompanied by addressing your particular SIP needs with the appropriate amount of Zone Labs fish oil.

yes, I will take appointment with the doctor. I will try to be strictly in the Zone with more fish oil. I usually take 2 teaspoon of fishoil. The fish oil I use is very good but the ratio EPA/DHA is only 1,5. The one of Dr Sears is not so expensive but the ship costs are too high.

Don't you know if there is someone with menopause problems ?

I was doing well with 12 blocks and now it is not easy. In the morning I eat 2 blocks oatmeal with protein powder and sliced almond and 2 egg whites with 1 block zucchini

Not hungry until 12. For my lunch a little bowl of leeks soup then brussels sprout with 3 blocks turkey and 1 block of barley.

With that I only go with 3 hour and I'am hungry. I eat 2 block snack (one bar + tofu and 2 carrotts) then work out at 17h30.

Supper is broccoli with salmon and lentils, after one fruit (kiwi or 1/2 appel)

Before going to bed, 1 block protein powder in hot water with 1/2 apple.

What do you think of this ? I think it is correct.
Thank you Sue for your help

Hi Adele,

Yes I know peple with menopausal symptoms, adn my recommendation is as started above in my previous post.

I'd be glad to help adjust your eating plan. I have a question. You wrote: I was doing well with 12 blocks and now it is not easy. What's has changed and how? I'd need to know this before making suggestions. I have suggestions in mind for adjusting the menu you posted, but will wait to post them after I know what type of problem you're having with your current menu.

Hello Sue, I have appointment with my doctor on next Monday. I will have blood test.

It is not easy for me at 12 blocks because I'am always hungry.

Until my lunch all is ok. No hunger. But after my lunch, about 2 hours or 2 hours and half, I am hungry. I eat my snack at 15:00 or 15:30. I go until 17:00. Hungry. So, today I eat a two block snack just now, 15:14' and see how it works. At 17:30 my work-out (about 1h20'). The problem is that I'm not satisfied mith my supper meal. And sometime I cheat with some peanuts, or walnuts, or chocolate...

So, after my afternoon snack I'm quiet always thinking about food ! Not normal !

Thank you very much Sue !

Just as I suspected...hunger.Is it focused humger of unfocused. If focused, add a C block to every meal. Since it's coiciding with the onset of menopausal symptoms, and you'r eeating a fair amount of moderate to higherdensity C, I'm thinking it's probably the unfocused type. If so, you're stimulating your insulin too much. Drop a C block form each meal (about 10g insulin stimulating C) and add 2 or 3 blocks of monounsaturated fat(3-4g)to every meal. Cut back on the amount of grains, legumes and fruit. Most of yoru C should come from low density veggies. These changes should help.

Focused hunger is when you feel absolutely great, have tons fo energy, and can perform well, but also feel hungry. Unfocusedhunger is when you feel hungry and also haev one or more other symptoms. The other symptoms can be ver minor can vary. Some examples are feelgn a little tired, don't feel at your best, headachy, can't concentrate, or feel like you need to eat to feel better...you know.

Hello Sue,

It was focused hunger. Not tired in the afternoon, not headache, a lot of work at office, so must be concentrate.

This morning I ate one block oats with 2 blocks protein powder with slivered almonds and 2 eggs white with 1 block zucchini with llittle olive oil.

For the lunch I ate 1 block brussels sprout with 1 block lentils and 3 blocks tofu with a little olive oil.

In the afternoon, at 15h 1 snack : it's deli turkey 1 block with 3 almonds and 1 block raw carrott. Another snack about 18h, the same.

No workout this evening.

I willl go to the doctor in order to make blood test for the hot flashes and to know if I am in menopause.

My dinner 3 block fresh salmon with 1 block brussels sprout, 1 block cooked spinach with olive oil and 6 almonds.

Bedtime snack, 1 block chocolate protein powder in hot water, 6 almonds and 1/2 grapefruit.

Is it OK with that ?

hello Sue,

Hope you go well !

I visited my doctor yesterday, and here's my blood test results.

My heart rate and fatigue problems was hyperthyroïdism ! The meds was too high ! I don't know why (perhaps problem of menopause) I took them during years.

So, I will stop all medications for thyroid for one week and then restart with only half (100 gamma instead of 200).

For anemia all goes well ! I was anemic with 12 of hemoglobine and 36 hematocrite with not enough iron and now, my iron is good and hemoglobine is now at 13.5 and hematrocrite is 40. Good news for my runs !

Although these goods news, unfortunately, I start to be in menopause.
I have to put on me oestrogene gel one a day and take one pil of oestrogene every 2 days.

I think that these hormonal medication will cause gain weight. Do you know how to manage this ?

Hope to have good news of you !

Hi Adele,

Thanks, I'm slowly regaining my strenght, a little more every day. :) I'm not up to sitting at the computer for too long yet, but just though I'd check in here. My first post-op check-up is this afternoon.

Glad you found out the cause of your increased heart rate.

You may want to explore second opinions with other docs to determine if HRT (estrogen) is really necessary. In the meantime, to have the least impact to weight gain from the estrogen, stick to all favorable veggies for C and add a little more monounsaturated F. I don't remember your usual balance, but a meal balance of 3P, 2C, 3 to 6 F would probably be appropriate for you for now. Experiment to see what balance works best. Remember to keep drinking plenty of water. Increaased FO intake might also be helpful.

Keep in touch !

sue :)

Hi Carol,

Thanks, it's good to be back (or kind of back,).

You and others are probably curious about my recent absence from here. I had 4-5 hrs of kidney surgery about 10 days ago for a UPJ obstruction, in my case, a congenital condition. An artery and a vein to my right kidney were pressing on the ureter, preventing the kidney from draining, and resulting in a painfully swollen kidney. I spent 5 days in the hospital, and have now been home a week.

Nice to hear from you. Have a good weekend. How do you like this freezing weather? And to think, just three weeks ago (happened to be my son's 21st bday that day) it was 70 degrees out, here in CT!

Hello Sue,

Glad to have good news from you !

Last week I was in France for ski holidays. Wonderful weather : always sun and good snow ! But for the food, I tried to be in the Zone, not easy ! I was in Club Med (I don't know if you kwnow), a lot of fresh food and beverage all inclusive ! Even if I ate much veggies, it was cooked with a lot of fat. Although I was skiing all day long with rest at 12 h for the lunch, I put on some weight ! So now I'm trying to return back the Zone.
Concerning the menopause, estrogen would be necessary (I take also advice from my sport doctor). So, I will start with less carbs and more monosaturated fat, like you tell me. I think it will be necessary because I am more hungry. Perhaps my stomach is bigger, now, just after my ski holidays !
