the name that will be displayed will be your USERNAME as it has always been in the past. The function for display name (from your profile) is not currently displayed/working.

    Hi Kenneth,

So far this isn't happening, not in my case at least. My username here is and always has been "slknorr", yet it contiunes to show up as "Susan". Now to further complicate matters, there's new user named "susan" (beginning with lower case "s"). I have to admit it confused me for a minute, so others will most likely mix us up also. Hope this username issue can soon be fixed to show our actual usernames.

    Thanks,

    sue

NOT TRUE, here, either. My user name had ALWAYS been "JayDPiii" and on these new forums it displays as "John"!

I assume "display name" is supposed to be the name that is displayed on our posts.

My last post was signed with my first name....info I had to supply when I joined.

Please correct so my first name is not at the bottom of my posts but the display name is used.

    Thank you.

I'm still experiencing the same problem as Freda/fabzone explained in the previous post.

In addition, I'm still unable to successfully update my avatar in my profile. (I also posted regarding this last week in a technical forum, but that forum is not appearing in the list of forums available on this site today). Today, I tried again to remove my existing avatar and add a new one, but to no avail.

Correction of these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Everyone

Currently, the forums are set to use first name - which is the first name used upon registration. We are working on upgrading the forums and hope to have the display name as an option (display name is also entered upon registration). The display name can be changed at any time and gives you the flexibility to use any nickname that you wish.

What is your preference: username, first name or display name.

    Regards

    My preference is Display name.
Seems obvious..... the name one wishes to be displayed at the bottom of posts.

While we're at it....I also "checked" the box asking for email notificatiojn when there is a response to my posts. Didn't happen.

Went to my profile and added "fabzone" to the signature box.
Posting this to see if that works.

Well if anybody doesn't want to display their real name in the forums, a quick solution (At least until this issue is fixed) would be to add your chosen display name in the First name field.

My concern with changing my first name (which is what I did) is that my billing information will be incorrect. I don't sign "Cranberrycat" on my checks! LOL

    Sue and Cranberrycat:

The website issue and the actual Customer Service System are two separate systems that have not yet been linked, any changes done on the website do not reflect in the Customer Service system, that's why we suggest when needing to change any information to call Customer Service aside from updating the information here. (I know it's a pain) but I'm 100% sure if you call customer service all your information will be correct as far as your correct billing info and shipping info in our system. :-)

Thanks for the heads up on that Rizzo.

I'm wondering if you could shed some light on this one for me, or if not, could you refer it to the appropriate person? As you've probably read, I'm having difficulty trying to change my avatar. As it stands now, when I click on "My Profile" the avatar that is displayed there is not the one I changed it to a few days ago, but the one I had originally (and I've actually changed it a few times since then). That same original avatar is also the pic the displayed here next to my posts (me in a sleeveless top). Yet when I click to edit that page/info, the Edit page pops up with a different avatar pic displayed on it (and it's actually the one I want for now, me in a black striped top). I then click on update, but still on my newly updated profile page and here in the forums all I see is the old avatar displayed (my original pic). Also, I did first click to delete the old avatar, and then browsed my files to find the new one I added. So...HUH?

    Thanks. :)

Mmmm... Good one Susan, I will let Carl know about it (IT)

One thing you can try is to delete the browsing history in your Internet explorer (If not FireFox or Safari) witchever Browser you are using or delete the cookies and Temporary internet files from it.
Sometimes when there's accumulated information there, it interferes with some website functions. So try that for now. I will definately foward the information. :-)

Has anything new happened with this issue? I joined the forums a few days ago and my First Name is what shows up. I also would prefer to have my Display Name showing.

    Beverly,

What I have done is I changed my first name to my username, and that way, my username shows. It is a way to work around it (although we shouldn't have to-LOL!)

However, I am interested to see if my autoships will be billed to Cranberrycat!

    Hi Everyone,

This shouldn't be a problem because autoship billing is not related to the username and first name here in the forums as explained earlier in this thread by one of the forum moderators. Here's the explanation again, quoted form that post:

"The website issue and the actual Customer Service System are two separate systems that have not yet been linked, any changes done on the website do not reflect in the Customer Service system, that's why we suggest when needing to change any information to call Customer Service aside from updating the information here. Ok, I'll change my name to my username. BTW, I'll be showing up as Bev-Ann instead of Beverly.
