I wasn't sure where else to post this so I hope it's appropriate. The Hershey's Smartzone bars, which used to bear a Dr. Sears Zone seal of approval, very recently started showing up without the seal. Does anyone know if they are still Zone compliant, or has Dr. Sears severed the alliance? Thanks in advance! |

I am a big fan of the bars as I am sure all of you are. Is there anywhere that you can buy them in bulk??? |

I see that you had read and posted on the other thread, in which we were discussing it.
Being a member of the Zone Diet Advantage, I was told by their staff that the Hershey Smartzone bars were being discontinued. After all of those posts and the discussion, I called Hershey and they said that the bars were NOT being discontinued, just some of the flavors.
My guess, since I got 2 different stories there, is that Hershey and the Zone are not continuing their venture together. However, I see that nothing has changed with regard to the ingredients in the bars. |

According to the Zone Labs folks, as well as the Hershey's company, the bars are still affiliated with the Zone, and will continue to be made in the crunchy form only. The smooth bars have been discontinued. I made 4 calls to Zone Labs on 4 different days, and got the same answer each time: there is no discontinuation of the alliance with the Zone. I also heard some info re an out-of-court settlement with regards to a suit by Zone Perfect, no details of course, because out-of-court settlements don't disclose the details of the settlements. This could answer why the new bars do not have Dr. Sears's endorsement label. AND it could answer why the Zone Labs people give the same answers with no explanations: they may not be allowed to. They continue to say that Hershey's controls the labelling.
The best news, I think, is that the new bars, have exactly the same ingredients, in the same order, and a GI of 16. So, I think they are still a good Zone product. Considering how often the Zone Diet Advantage Admins and Nutritionist are wrong, or don't know answers to questions, I would not tend to put much stock in anything they say. For now, I'll go by the answers from the 2 companies involved.

Yes, yet another question about Hershey's SmartZone bars...After seeing them discounted for a few months, I can't find them at all these days.
Have they been discontinued? |
