I was at a conference over the weekend, and one of the topics was on fibromyalgia. The speaker was a doctor who used to be in family practice, but developed fibro and was almost bedridden from it. She started contemporary western medicine treatment and got virtually nowhere. Then, she turned to holistic medicine and started to treat with a combination of conventional treatments and emphacized an "anti-inflammatory" diet (by the description she gave, it was definitely the Zone or similar diet), and high dose fish oil. Today, she is functioning normally, and has changed her practice to holistic medicine. She is a highly functioning fibro patient, and prior to changing her diet and adding fish oil, she was almost bedridden! Just wanted to share this, I found it VERY interesting! 8)

If you are interested, the speaker was Dr. Nancy Selfridge, and I think she is from UW Hospital in Wisconsin. I don't know for sure, but I bet she has some things published.
