Hi AnnaMaira....On the home page of Dr.Sears.com..sign up if your not already and then to the left of the page click on Zone Tools and then click on Body Fat Calculator...(click on male or female)...enter the information wanted and you will be told how many blocks of food you need for your situation..Then Click on Zone Resources and then click on Food Block Guide....this is a simple list of some of the foods that are Zone friendly...they can be mixed and matched...the top of this page will explain how to pick out blocks of food...1 protein...1 Carb and 1 Fat from the list is One Block...I'm sure the book Top Ten Zone Foods will give you much more information...I hope this was helpful...I'm kind of new to the Zoning thing myself..but I'm pretty sure I have a handle on it now...Good Luck...Carol |

Hi...11 blocks of protein is just part of the zone diet...A daily meal would look something like this..You would pick out 3 Proteins,3 Fats and 3 Carbs from the list to form a 3 Block Meal...Every one block meal is 9 grams of Carbs...7 grams of Protein and 1.5 grams of Fat....Example of a One block snack would be = 1 oz. Sardine(Protein), 3 Olives(Fat), 1/2 Apple(Carb)...you have to have the combination of Protein, Carbs and Fat to balance the meal...you can break up the 11 blocks anyway you want...say have 2 blocks for breakfast and then 3 blocks for lunch...or
Breakfast-3 Blocks
Snack-1Block
Lunch-3 Block
Dinner-3 Block
Snack- 1 Block...Sometimes I have a 2 Block Breakfast and 3 hrs later I will have a 2 Block lunch....you have to find the right combination for yourself...Dr.Sears reccomends..Breakfast and then 2 hrs later a 1 Block meal wether your hungry or not...never go more than 4 hours between meals..water in between...I hope this helps...Carol |

Hi tigerlilly,
I'm curious to know where you saw/heard that Dr. Sears recommends to eat breakfast and then eat a snack 2 hrs later. I've never heard that recommendation from him before. [/color:ff5615d8ac] |

Hi Sue...I miss quoted when I said "Dr. Sears reccomends a snack 2hrs. after breakfast"...I don't eat my first meal most of the time till noon so I eat a snack sometimes 2 hrs. after that...Since I eat my snack in the afternoon I went by that and that was my error...I got the afternoon and time frame mixed up and I apoligize to Dr. Sears and who else was mislead by my post...Dr. Sears reccomends a mid afternoon snack between lunch and dinnner. Carol |

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the info. I asked because a few things have changed over the yrs as the Zone has evolved and I thought I might have missed something about an after breakfast snack.. Way back, carb block amounts changed to reflect the subtraction of fiber, and more recently carrots came to be considered favorable, so you never know. :D [/color:21e8ab3dd8] |

Hey Sue,
Where do you usually find the most updated block lists? I have pretty much all of the Zone books and I constantly check the block guide on this website for updates. Is there another source?
Thanks in advance!
Mariana
PS: Thanks for the tip on the carrots, I never saw that in any of my resources. |

Hi,
I would assume the list on this site to be one of the most up to date. But the book published last year, "The Anti Inflammation Zone" considers carrots to be a favorable carb.[/color:7c11032d90] |

130 grams of fresh carrot is one carb block --as favorable as an apple. |
