[quote:e93ea0ee44="marianamanela"]Does anyone know what would be the best way to eat when going on a 4 hour intense hike? My dad just started the Zone after seeing the great results I've achieved in the past 8 months. I'm really excited for him and trying to do anything I can to help him out. He works out regularly 3-5 times a week and on the weekends he goes on 4 hour long hikes. It's usually a pretty intense uphill hike for about 2 hours and that's when he needs to eat something for at that point his blood pressure drops a bit. Then the last 2 hours are downhill but at a pretty fast speed. Should he be eating a normal Zone breakfast an hour before his hike and then eating half a Zone bar or a Zone snack after the first 2 hours of intense exercise?
The reason why this is all confusing to me is because he would be eating again before his 4 hour mark. Would it be best to eat a 2 block breakfast and then a 2 block snack during the hiking days?
If anyone has any suggestions it would be really insightful to keep this new zoner on the right track. Oh and also, for the Zoners who are really athletic please share what are some great meal ideas for days of intense exercise.
Thanks![/quote:e93ea0ee44]
[color=darkred:e93ea0ee44]Hi,
When I do intense 4 to 5 hr hikes, I eat a regular breakfast at least an hour before hiking, and take water and Sears Labs Zone bar (s) to use during the hike. On intense uphill hikes, I'll usually eat 1/2 bar every 45 min to an hour. You don't have to wait 4 hours to eat a snack. He should make sure he doesn't eat more than 5 to 6 blocks at any one time, and that he eats to suit his LBM and activity needs.[/color:e93ea0ee44] |
