Hiya, I wasn't sure where to post this but I just wanted to post this somewhere... Now, I know we newbies get a bit psycho (it couldn't possibly be just me?) about counting blocks to the T...When I first started about a month ago, I "zoned" a bunch of foods that I eat regularly and put them neatly in my file bin and have been keeping a diary of the things I've eaten, marking my blocks by checking my files and balancing it all to put into my daily menu (if only I'd put this much into doing homework way back when! )...I've also been plugging the foods into Fitday just to get an idea of the vitamins and minerals I'm taking in...I'd noticed some discrepancies in F, P and C intake but I figured it was because I was knocking off small digits here and there while figuring out my blocks. This morning after more plugging and discrepancies, I decided to recheck the zoned list I made for myself and realized I'd marked some items incorrectly! I must be getting better at this after a month to look at the list and be able to spot the mistakes. I guess that's a good thing, anyway. So for those of you who when you just started and zoned your kitchen and use your personal data info this way, you might want to recheck your lists to make sure they're correct! :)

After my first month I found some significant problems, even though I was following the official food block guide. That is when I started using an electronic kitchen scale and made up my food "Brick" guide. It is posted on this site for reference. I expect the first month is typically full of mistakes for most beginners.

Hi, again, Yes, I saw your "brick" chart and actually copied it into a file I keep handy. I like the idea of measuring by weight instead of cups...things like frozen strawberries are hard to figure out! Tia

Yes, Dennis, if you don't mind sharing, maybe you can share your food brick guide again.

Or Dennis, could you tell us which list/post we could find it under? I too am one of those newbies who has a fairly good handle on blocks after a month and am now looking to refine my calculations a bit. Not wanting to be obsessive about this, but just to get rid of any big discrepancies. Eve

Carla is usually able to make it work again, so you may have to give her a day to fix it.

Oh my gosh, was I using too many frozen raspberries for what I measured to be a cup! I used your grams charts and was really surprised at the difference in amount. Your chart is a fantastic help! Tia
