Does anyone know if Almond Milk is 'acceptable' for the zone?
I've been using it in a shake that I make, but I recently concluded that I'm not in the zone afterwards. I know that it is, in part, due to the P/C imbalance, but I was wondering if anyone had any info on if that protein source is acceptable.
Also, are the ingredients (brown rice and almonds, etc) the sort that could cause insuline imbalance?
Thanks!

brown rice, i've learnt, is high GI. it's not really very different from white rice i don't think in its insulin impact.
almond milk, no experience.

[color=darkred:927753ce23]Liquids, even favorable ones like milk, are less likely to keep some people in the zone.[/color:927753ce23] |

Maybe I just need to make my lunch something with more substance...
Especially if the brown rice has a high GI index.
Back to the drawing board I guess...
Thanks! |

Did you try using soy milk instead? I use Silk Vanilla, it's almost perfectly zoned (9gr C, 6gr P, 3gr F). It's very creamy, too. I find it keeps me in the Zone pretty well. I'm not sure what kind of shake you make, but if it's too liquidey to keep you in the zone, you can try to tweak it so that, say, only 1/3 of it comes from pure liquid and the rest from other ingridients (which would make for a very thick shake, I guess :-) |
