Hello I am just starting wondering if there are some Australians currenly zoning? Most posts seem quite old. Be great to hear of current product availability and onshore brands etc for foods, etc and also in metric! I've got heaps of those "dumb" questioners that beginners have to ask to learn as well... I look forward to hearing back. Many thanks Angela in Oz |

Angela, I know a Zoner in Australia, she hangs around here now and then. I also talk to her via email, so I will mention to you that you are asking. Honestly, I don't know Australia well enough to know how close Perth would be to her city. |

Thank you Sue and Cranberry cat. Cranberry cat you didn't say what city your friend is in? I live in Perth, or is that where your friend is too? If so that is pretty cool! Cheers Angela |

You're welcome Angela. My daughter went did a semester at UWA in Perth when she was in college. She loved living there. I remember she always mentioned a beach, or a place near a beach, by the name of Rottnest. The name sticks in my mind, though I've never been to Australia. Maybe you know it. My other daughter also did a semester in college in Australia, but on the opposite side of the country, at James Cook U. in Townsville, Queensland. She was fortunate to be able to visit Australia again about 5 years ago. I remember a woman form Australia named Margaret who used to be here in the forums. I think she lived in Canberra. |

It isn't Perth, and I am not sure how close it is to Perth. I am having trouble recalling the city... I will have to send her an email and let her know to post here! |

Hello Angela, I'm on the Sunshine Coast (Qld) and have been in The Zone for 3 years.Absolutely remarkable results - for my husband too! Having reared an ADHD child 30 years ago,I'm quite used to cooking/preparing from the ground up.I just don't trust what 's in anything out of a factory and i don't trust the confusing/deceitful lies on the packets. With some good cooking equipment (blender, knives, mandolin for slicing and a pressure cooker) I find meals that used to be a lengthy process are now very quickly and easily achieved. And it's all so much cheaper to DIY. Yes, at first I had to convert everything to food blocks ;that list is taped now inside my pantry door. All our favourite ingredients/meats/F/V were highlighted. Then I chose meals from the Zone Meals book and particularly, the Omega RX Zone (from memory) it has been a life changing experience (and I learnt a lot about cooking ! Not exactly what you were after, but I'm happy to talk recipes with you if you want. Kaye in OZ:) |

Hi Sue, Cranberry Cat and Rhonda Kaye Thankyou for replies. I have failed this week to zone well, as I found a box of optifast shakes in the cupboard and cheated all week for breakfast with. I also had a work lunch which I think I chose well, Bef carpacco, and a sise of pear, walnut, rocket, blue cheese salad. The portions were reasonable, it was the 2 glasses of wine that undid me! They extracted my energy, motivation and my desire to go to the gym. I make most meals from , but thinking a pressure cooker may be a new addition that is required in my kitchen. Fremantle Sue is one of my favourite hang outs too, it is a small city which is WA's major port. The first port most newcomers to Australia arrive at. It is where US navy ships come for R adn R and refuelling, replenishing on way to or from the Gulf! There is a large European, Italian particularly population so there are cafe strips with alfresco dining, coffee houses, gelaterias. iconic book shops, markets and steeped in history. It is the place to promenade on a sunday...it is lively, restaurants, bars, museums, art galleries, starting fashion houses, quality kitchenalia, quality leather goods and italian imported shoes etc! The atmososhere is always lively, yet relaxed! It takes about 45 min by car for me to go there on a sunday! It is also a very green and enviro conscious area. Back to Zoning today! I have tried to stay within the zone but I have been craving crunchy peanut paste for days which I never usually even eat or buy! Sleep has been disturbed this last fortnight and I have also had trouble on occasion of going longer than 5 hours before being able to snack or eat. Through leaving my lunchbox behind in the morning school chaos...So I finally relented and I ate a snickers bar yesterday. Recipes sound like a good idea Kaye! Thank you all for your warm support. I apologize for my ramblings too. Angela in Oz |

Hi Angela, No wonder she loved Freemantle. :) Take it one meal at a time and try to keep it simple. Re the peanut paste craving, make sure to add enough fat with each meal. Keep us updated! |

Angela, I chatted with my friend, she is way across on the other side of Australia. So, apparently not to close to you! She used to hang out in the forums quite a bit, but is taking a break from posting. Just jump back on the wagon! I am not a perfect zoner, myself. I feel that if I work too hard to achieve perfection, it really just takes the fun out of this and makes it more of a chore. So, I am much more forgiving on myself if I slip up. I have had a pretty good week, but today not as good as it could be. Didn't go over much on calories, but we went to a movie and I did eat popcorn. It was yummy, and I just accepted the fact that I was going to do this, and enjoyed every morsel. |

Hi Angela, Im in Perth (Spearwood actually) I work in Freo, I havent started this diet yet, I have only just started reading about it, I have a few health issues (Im 53) and the inflammation idea of the diet interested me. Like most other ppl I have half heartedly tried a few others and Im hoping thios one will be different and that it might be somethying I can do forever rather than weeks, months etc, Im not really focused on the weight loss as much as the health benefits I weigh 94 kilos (would love to be 75!). Cheers Diane

Diane... You can always call us at 800-404-8171 for help. I would also sugest two of Dr Sears books... "A Week in the Zone" and his newest book... "Toxic Fat". I really like "A Week in the Zone"... It will guide you day to day for a week. Most individuals use it for two weeks mixing up the recipes and then are on cruise control from there. Also be sure to use the tools located at http://www.zonediet.com/tools and the resource page located at http://www.drsears.com/Resources/ta...fault.aspx Best of luck... You have found the healthiest sustainable diet; that works for a lifetime. |

Hi Angela, I am new to the zone diet, just found out about it yesterday, while searching the internet for diet info for Menieres sufferers. I am in the same place as you were when you wrote that post, lots of similar questions... Did you find the answers you were looking for? Would love to hear from anyone in Australia about what works for them, what products are available here etc. I desperately need to get onto this diet to stabilize my insulin, sodium, sugars etc, as I am suffering pretty badly from dizziness and vertigo, and it's making life very difficult! Hope it's going well for you:) Nicola |
