Hi Doux!
I live in CT but I also spend a lot of time in MD (my daughter and her family live there; we'll be there for the next 2 weeks!). My shopping tip is GIANT. They have a lot of Zone friendly food, including the Nature's Promise organic brand at great prices. |

I'm in NoVA! (Sterling). Would love to share tips and ideas. I "Zoned" years ago and loved it. Lost 10 pounds, felt great and loads of energy. I did find it hard to stick with long term (obviously as I need to lose 10-15 now!). But I didn't mind the blocks or planning. I guess at some point sugar/carb cravings took over. But I am trying it again Jan. 1. Where in MD are you? |

Hi - I am in Baltimore county and would love to have a Zone pal. I just started (12/31/08) and so far, so good. My ex introduced me to this diet years ago when he successfully dropped many pounds (he picked them up again, sadly, and developed diabetes) but this is only my second attempt. I feel pretty good so far! I am hoping to go down about two or three sizes and increase my overall energy level. |

Another one in Baltimore county! I've been contemplating this for awhile now and I'm finally ready to get going. I'd love to talk to others in the area! |

Yeah, I am back in the saddle again after having forgotten there IS a Zone over the holidays. I have to say that being out of the Zone pretty much feels horrible. Now, I have to get back in the Zone and wait for the benefits to kick back in again. ...things like sleeping well, no joint pain, better flexibility, peppy mood, sharper thinking, no feeling run down. I have taken my supplements but have not been exercising or eating anywhere NEAR the Zone. (You can smack my paw if you want, Sue ::::holding paw out for a smack:::: |

Thank you, Sue. I am so pleased to be back. I am twiddling my thumbs waiting to feel better. I know it's coming, I just have to stay in the Zone and things will be much better.
In the meantime, I have a question about a good slow cooked oatmeal recipe. I have found the slow cooking oats and have no problem having them everyday. However, I almost want to have a "one bowl breakfast." However, I can't imagine how to combine a protein with the oatmeal...well protein and a fat. Anyone have any ideas? |

Welcome back to the Zone, Doux! To make a "one bowl breakfast", you could add some milk ... that will account for some protein (also be sure to count the carb). Also, depending on the type of milk you drink, it could account for some fat. You could add some fruit ... berries, etc. You could add some nuts to your steel-cut oats, a little olive oil (you won't taste it) or some peanut butter. Also you can add protein powder to your steel-cut oats. Hope that helps! Enjoy! |

Hi Doux! I'm here in Olney again so I'm officially a MD zoner for the week! Oats and protein...the classic Zone breakfast! Its 3 blocks of cooked steel cut oats mixed with 3 blocks protein power and topped with 3 blocks of slivered almonds and some cinnamon. It's ok to add a splash of milk. Also, remember to go heavier on the almonds if your protein powder is fat free (in that case, add 6 blocks instead of 3). Another one bowl Zone oat classic (it was posted in the forums years ago): 3 blocks cooked steel cut oats, mixed with 3 blocks cottage cheese and 3 blocks peanut butter (I add a little vanilla extract too). Enjoy! |

Arlington, Va here! My on going attempts to get back on the Zone seem to be difficult. I keep trying. I did it many years ago with great success but 13yrs later... it's not the same. |
