    Hi There...
I saw a program on UK TV this week about Manuel Uribez. I went on internet to research and here I am.
I have not yet started Zone Diet. Still researching as I know certain foods such as chicken puts weight on me. But lamb shrinks me while turkey is neutral. I definately eat more than 4oz protein at present and will adapt to get to my zone. :)
    I understand concept.
    I need 12 blocks.
    1 individual block = 9gc 7gp 3gf
To eat in a 3-1-3-1-3-1 basis (6 meals) I need to triple above block for main meal or keep to above block for snack.

I have looked at some sample meals and will have to adapt. For example...Bacon and apple rye bread sandwich will have to be lamb and apple sandwich on millet bread etc
My body is naturally not compatible with bacon or rye bread at present.

Where on site do they have a list of foods for me to choose from?
How many tablespoons (im british) is 3grams of fat?

Hope to hear from you soon

    Hi Sandra,

For the block list, go to the EATING tab, then Quick Start Guide, then Zone Food Blocks. The list contains common foods which are good for the Zone Diet, and also some unfavorable carbs, which are noted as "High Density Carbohydrates (use in moderation)". You're not limited to only the foods found on this list.

Here's an easy to use convesrion site for UK and US cooking measurements:

Hi Lynn and thanks for reply.

Because of my circumstances I'm not fully into it yet.
I have written down all my choice foods and going from there.
I also have to disguise this way of eating as my family will think I'm overeating having 5ish meals a day.

I've done a "UK ZONERS" topic on ZONE TIPS.

    hey sandra
I hope you dont think i am being cheeky but instead of hiding the diet and having to eat so many meals a day why dont you try showing your family your diet or books, they will then see that all the food you have too eat is GOOD for you and not bad ,My husband could not believe that i had to eat 5 times a day and the amounts i had to eat !! and he has also tried some of the meals i do for myself ( he does not need to loose weight as he is very thin )me im the complete opposite,( i just have to look at food and its piled on !!!!)but he does give me all the support i need as he knows i want to get back to what i was before when i met him.You never know you may be surprized by your family and they give you all the support you need ,and may even try a few meals you make ,
    speak soon
    good luck

    Thanks for your advice Lynn.
My first goal is to lose a stone or two so they can see evidence.
If I had fruit alone they wont think I'm overeating.
Do you get what Im saying?
If I had a protein and a teaspoon of oil with that fruit they will think I'm overeating...fruit alone to them is OK?
    Not Zoning I know!
    Awkward...
They wont know about Zoning as "they've heard all before"
    Long story.

I'm going to work out my personal Zone as I am an individual.
And buy appropriate foods. My fridge will look different in 4 weeks time.
    Goodnessdirect.co.uk does steel cut oats.
I bought 2 bags of instant Mornflake a month ago. Ha ha

I'm in Manchester, UK. A bit north of you lot it seems, but have the same issues over finding the right foods. Mornflake is all I can get at the local Morrison's, they were doing Oatmeal which is allegedly stoneground. I did contact Mornflake asking about the GI rating of their various products and spoke to their Technical Director.

He said they don't have that information but recommended their MornFlake Jumbo Oats as likely to have the lowest GI.
Down from 30% Body Fat to 18% in 6 months. UPDATE: Now 13% Body fat.

    hi colin
Go to Goodness Direct on the web, they do PINHEAD OATS which ARE steel cut oats. I wrote to the Quakeroats company and they sent me the most interesting reply about oats.If i still have the email i will try to put it on here as it is very good info for everyone, nearly all of the foods on the zone diet you can either buy in our supermarkets or online ,you just have to know what the same foods are ZUCCHINI = COURGETTES , EGG PLANT =AUBERGINE,and so on ,If you need any other help ,please ask ,i am not the best but we are all here to help each other

    Hi
UK yeah, I'm new to this, haven't started yet just trying to get my head round the business of blocks??????
I'm up in Norfolk UK. I was really slim till I got married last year yikes then I became ill with M.E so have piled on nearly 4 stone, really need to lose it guys so any help will be much appreciated. I tried the Lighterlife diet, excellent for a quick fix but have no chance of keeping the weight off.
Can anyone help with the meaning of blocks? I've worked out I need 11 blocks per day of protein, carbs and fat but does that mean 11grams of chicken per meal or divided up for the day???????? Not blonde really (liar liar hehehehe)
    Thanks
    H

    Hi Helen!

Easiest way to do the Zond is with the plate method described in Quick Start (in the EATING tab) I lost 100 pounds using mostly the plate method. If you prefer to use blocks, go to the Zone Food Blocks tab in Quick Start. Also take a look at the Woman's 7 Day Planner (in the EATING tab).

I'll be happy to help if you have qns!

    Hi,
This is Mary from Wigan. I intend to place a order for omega RX and would also like to try the bars. Know it is down to individual taste but could anyone recommend which flavours are best. I don't particularly like soft fudge type textures.
    Thanks

Hi I am in the UK and would like to say hi to all the UK Zoners!! I have just started on the zone but I have to make it easy for myself so I have been on the quick start guide!! I cant get my head around the block system just yet! I am actually finding it fairly easy as I dont really miss rice potatoes breads etc and I actually have always loved salads and vegetables. I grow my own veg which is proving to be so useful on the zone.
Lately I have been feeling sluggish and generally unhealthy with numerous aches and pains. My doctor has run tests but cannot find anything wrong. Which is my main reason for trying the zone~any weight lose would be nice too but I just want to get my get up and go again. My blood pressure has been elevated on my last two visits to the doctors but not high enough to be placed on medication. Two years ago I contracted shingles and I am sure that my symptoms return periodically just to haunt me!!! My doctor has suggested regular excercise and a change in my diet. So I have joined a gym....I am starting a pilates class today! So I am hoping that the zone will make me feel better than I do at the moment. I will continue to make postings on my progress and would be interested in hearing about all your stories too.

Hi UK Zoners. April here from Peterborough Cambs. Got the book and had lenghty disscussions with very " Zoned " Friend. Think Ive got my head around the "blocks part".Going to invest in some proper kitchen scales as I think that portion control is a big must.Only down side I can see for me is cutting out my vino ,but hey after seeing my holiday snaps this yr I need some serious weight loss. My weight was never a problem until I gave up smoking. I ballooned up from a healthy 9 stone to nearly 13 , so weight loss is my main objective also Im hoping that I can boost my energy levels. Hoping that Ill be able to get some good tips from USA zoners in this Forum. Good luck All .A

    Welcome April!

You can still have a little wine, no need to cut it out altogether. This is a great site for info and support. There are lots of helpful people here. Good luck as you begin the Zone!

Hi Sue , I noticed your replys on this UK thread so thanks for your encouragement. Also your plate pictures are good inspiration as Ive had a breakfast of 2oz cottage cheese 2oz ham and half and apple now for breakfast for the last 3 days since I seriously started trying to zone my meals and Im getting pretty bored with that already. As today is Monday Ill be having my first zoned proper lunch so will be looking over your pictures again to see what I can find in my cupboards. Cheers April

    Hi April

Yep I've just started today, have to re-read some of the information again tonite. Had omellette with cottage cheese to start at 8am then at 10,am had Museli with protein powder. lunch had chicken and a large plate of veg. for my snack this pm having a protein shake. Not sure if all this will add up or if ok, but i do know im stuffed to the gills!

I think the choice of meals / foods available is quite varied, just not sure I';ll be bothered weighing it into blocks, will be quite hard working in an office to manage most of the meals?

Looking froward to giving it a go though, everyones testimonials sound positive and some good results so lets see eh?

    Cheers

    Hi April!

I'm glad to hear you like my photos!

Try increasing to 1 1/2 apples and adding some nuts to bring more balance to that breakfast. You're off to a great start!

    Have fun with it!

Hi Eric , Hows it going with you ? I got the scales and have been weighting everything Ive put in my mouth! Hows the protein powder ? I went to Holland and Barret to check it out and I see its quite expensive. I dont want to spend all that dosh if it tastes yuk.But I am going to invest in their EPA fish oil as thats on half price at the moment at £9.99 for 250 caps. All the best April

Hi foks, I'm from Hertfordshire. Just starting to work out how to do this. I'm coping OK during the week at work, but can't get things balanced at the weekend at the moment :-( On the plus side, I've slept better during the week than I usually do, not so good at the weekend, which I guess goes to show the zone is working for me. Just need to work out how to stay in it all the time!

Can anyone tell me how I get a picture under my name, please? I can't see any way to do that.

I don't think it's been working for a while. I asked last week because I wanted to change mine and thought I was losing my mind because I couldn't find it, but apparently the 'my profile' button has run away....
