I am writing to you because your both seem to have conquered your grain/carb cravings. Not long ago, I unfortunately tried some high fiber oat cereal (due to constipation and my desire to try something fast for relief) and have become addicted to this stuff! I stay up late and have a very difficult time trying to fall asleep on an empty stomach and found the cereal to be filling and relaxing so that I could fall asleep. But now I have created a monster of the stuff and need some help getting off of it. I feel like a junky...Thanks.

I still get urges for grains, now and then. If I keep it out of the house, it is much easier for me. And I'll eat a Tbl of steel cut oats, raw, like nuts, when I feel an urge for carbs. If you feel you need some fiber, try Glucomannan. And every now and then, I will allow myself a nice piece of fresh seeded rye bread, lightly toasted - as a treat ( a heavenly treat!). Total depravity never works, and is not part of the Zone philosophy. |

Maureen, be sure you're taking an appropriate dose of Omega Rx. The colon will be appropriately hydrated and constipation won't be a problem when theAA/EPA is in the ideal range. Experiment a little. If things get too loose, you'll know it's a sign to cut back a little bit on your dose. |

Thanks John and Sue for your help. John, I agree with you: total deprivation never works in the long run. Sue, I just took 4 Rx capsules and hope to see results soon. I have been taking cod liver oil so it will be interesting to see if this helps. Thanks again guys. |

Glad you switched to Omega Rx. Cod liver oil doesn't even compare, and it's not a safe choice considering today's ocean pollution. Stick with Omega Rx. It takes 30 days to get the full benefit of any given fish oil dose, butmany people notice a difference within days, once they're at the right dosage for their particular state of wellness. |

Maureen, I have been MIA lately due to being very busy at work (and no desire to spend any more time on the computer after I get home LOL). Sorry I missed your question. I have never been able to conquer the craving for grain. I just don't bring it into the house. If I have it in the house, it is always a temptation, mostly because it is so easy and accessible, especially when the schedule is tight. I guess I can say that I don't necessarily crave it, but at the same time, I am still tempted by it. Not to say that I don't think about how it will make me feel every time I eat grain, because that thought DOES go through my head. So, if I just don't bring it home, that seems to work the best for me. Total abstinance is not a Zone philosophy, I agree with John on that point. So, don't beat yourself up about it. Getting enough fish oil should do the trick, but it might a few days to notice the change in the stool consistency. Good luck! |
