Hi there, do you guys know how to count a three scoops of tuna with mayonnaise (they don't have anything else) from subway? Is the salad with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers , 3 scoops of tuna with mayo, and 1/4 wheat bread a balanced meal?????? Thanx, Karen. |

That salad sounds a bit unbalanced (too high in protein and too low in carboydrate), adn mayo is only a fair choice, as fats go. Here's some info about what to eat at Subway to stay in The Zone: http://www.zonediet.com/0/zonediet/...temid/2116 |

If you can drink milk, just about anyplace is Zone friendly. 16 oz of 2% milk is 2P blocks, and 2.5C blocks and 10g of fat. The fat isn't the best but okay occasionally. Then add a little more P, C and F from the menu (like a huge salad with a little chicken on it) and you get a balanced meal. |

Regarding the link for Zoneful choices at Subway, I don't believe that the low carb wraps are available any longer. And, they usually don't have much choice regarding the soups, it is kind of a chancy thing. One of the better choices is to choose a salad instead of a sandwich and balance out accordingly. |

An alternative, if you must or really want a "sandwich", is to do what I used to do before my wife and I went nearly completely grain-free. Buy a package of one of those low-carb, high fiber wraps, that have 6grams net carbs. Then bring one with you to subway or where-ever, and have them make your sub/sandwich in your provided wrap. Then, with other veggies added, it is easy to keep the unfavorable 6 grams of net carbs under 25% of all carbs.
