Hi, I am new here and just started the zone diet 2 days ago. I went on this diet to lose about 40 lbs and also get healthy for life. I am 5'6" and weigh 150.5lbs, I also have this huge problem of a very fat or swollen stomach, I look like Im pregnunt sometimes. Its horrid. Well, I am now expiericing alot of distension and bloating after eating these very healthy meals, is this normal? Is my body just trying to adjust or do I have an intolerance to something? DId anyone else expierence this type of problem when first starting the zone diet? I have had my stomach checked out in the past and they never can give me a reason just pills to treat the symptoms. Id really like to get rid of this stomach of mine, I use to be very fit looking and I still love the rest of my body, when I hide my stomach! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Leslie |

Leslie, You might be someone who needs to ease into the Zone a bit more slowly. Yes, some people have a hard time adjusting to the sudden change. Start out more slowly. Eat veggies cooked at first, they will digest more easily. Go easy on the gas-forming foods, like beans, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, especially in their raw state. If it a gas problem, I have heard that Bean-o works pretty well for that (I have never tried it). |

Leslie, use the Body Fat Calculator on this site to determine a goal weight. You'd want to shoot for whatever weight you''d be at to have around 22% body fat. To find out your total weight at 22% body fat divide your LBM ( from the calculator) by 0.78 |
