Hi, I am new hear, I read that someone "Sue" I believe was eating a multigrain Zone bagle with cream cheese and Salmon lox, I didnt know where or how to get the Zone bagel but I tried a reg bagel with little cream cheese and nova lox salmon slices on top. It was AWESOME but I am pretty sure that the bagel has WAY too many carbs in it, can someone please advise me on where I can find a Zone bagel and if there arent any, since I also read that quit selling break products, what is a good substitute and should I eat a whole bagel or just half for a 3 block meal

    Thanks alot

    Well....

The zone bagels are no longer being sold, so that is not an option.
Most bagels that I have seen in the store are very high in carb. If your heart is set on having a bagel, you would probably only be able to have 1/2 of it. Look at the label, sometimes there are differences in carb values from one product to another.

Another idea might be to look for sprouted grain bagels, although they are still unfavorable in the zone.

And another idea might be to use a toasted English muffin in place of the bagel. Less carbs, but still unfavorable.

Using any of these products is still going to give you an unfavorable carb as the main carb in your meal.

Your best bet is to give up looking for the bread substitute and find something that is more zone favorable. You could whip up a salmon dip using the salmon slices and the cream cheese, then eat it up dipping assorted vegetables into it. Eating those veggies will put you more solidly into the Zone than the bread will.

    Hope that helps!

    Leslie,

If you chose to eat a bagel or any other type if bread product, keep it to an amount tvat provides.no more than 25% of all the carbohydrate in the meal ( that's the Zone guidelines). Use the 4 hour hunger test to be sure the meal keeps you in the Zone. Zone bagels that are now unavailable were very different from regular bagels. In case you hadn't seen , I included the info in my journal post that I'd stocked my freezer with Zone foods before they became unavailable.
