    Hi there,
I've been on the zone for 7 years now. (Although the last year I've been a little slack).
I lost 92 pounds in the first year and half then gained back 20 pounds over the last year. Trying to get back into the routine again properly but I'm sure now I'm in my 30s its harder to lose the weight!!! I eat a lot of dairy products like yogurt, milk, cottage cheese and cheese and wondered if I should maybe cut some of these out to kick start the weight loss again. I'm not actually too worried about what the scales say, I just want to feel good and comfortable in my clothes again. Any help / suggestions would be awesome!!
    Thanks
    Sue

    Hi,

I actually do better with less dairy, hardly any, mostly only a little yogurt. Some tips, check your protein/block requirement to be sure it fits your current stats and activity. Eat mostly veggies for your carbohydrates and berries rather than denser fruits. Drink plenty of water and get your sleep. To kickstart, eat veggies for all your carbohydrates until weight loss resumes. If that doesn't start to work by the end of a week or so, try also droppping 1 carbohydrate block from every meal, just until weight loss resumes. Please keep us updated. Good luck!

You're welcome. Heres' a tip about making shakes. The more liquid the carbohydrate is, the faster it gets into the blood stream which ultimately impacts your insulin control and how well you'll stay in the Zone. Depending on your sensitivity to carbohyrdrate the yogurt breakfast shake could work against your efforts to jumpstart fat loss. Try to make it as thick as you can, or for now consider having a veggie filled omelet for breakfast instead.

If one is short on tome, you can do scrambled eggs in the microwave a lot faster than putting together a breakfast smoothie.
Then just eat the Carbs (fruit/veggies) separately.
Scramble in a large coffee mug.
Add a little milk, some EVOO, a little Protein powder or cheese if desired,
a few chopped veggies, if desired.
    Scramble, mix well.
    Microwave 30 seconds.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Microwave another 45 seconds.
    Done.
    .
    I add 1 Tbl milk to 2 egg (2 P) equivalent.
Add 1 tsp or 2 of EVOO.
    1 P protein powder.
Salt, Pepper, and other spices depending on mood.
If spicy mood, Cumin and/or Tumeric - both healthful spices.
Or sometimes Cinnamon, another healthful spice.
    .
Then defrost and slightly warm in microwave, equivalent 3 C blueberries and mixed berries.
Takes about 10 minutes total from initial pre pfor the entire breakfast to ready to eat.
And only 5 minutes to clean-up and wash dishes.
    .
Then, back to my desk with a cup of tea.
    (I work from home).
But do-able before leaving for your commute.
Or put together and heat in microwave at the office if running late.

I used to use the coffee mug for eggs (really easy), but I recently purchased a microwave egg cooker and I LOVE IT!

Is that those 6 egg EGGIES?
Hard Boiled eggs without the shell?
I have not read very good reviews and results from those.
    Or some thing else?
    .
Of course you are a Dr. Mercola fan, too - and you also take him with a grain of salt.
But, You know his take on microwave ovens .... right?

    John,

It is made by "Nordic Ware" and is called "Egg N Muffin". I think you can put up to 2 whole eggs or 4 egg whites into it. Think I bought it at Walmart, but have seen it at other stores, too.

And, I am aware of what Mercola says, and I just try to ignore that! LOL

What about having the zone bagels? Do you find they are good to kick start weight loss? Thinking back now I never use to have shakes when I was having steady weight loss

Victoria, no sense in becoming dependent on the Zone bagels, they won't be available after the end of this month.

Yes Victoria, the Zone bagels are excellent for weight loss. Unfortunately they are going out of production at the end if the month. Stock up now; they keep very well in the freezer. I just packed my freezer full when my Zone bakery order arrived yesterday. :) Zone cookies are baked with the same technology and will not be discontinued. They're delicious and would also be an excellent addition. They are nothing short if amazing in their a ability to keep you in the Zone!
