I'm new, so please forgive me if this question has been asked 100,000,000 times. Currently, my husband and I are doing the Zonefast intro program while we get a handle on the math involved with our diet:). I am taking this time to try and convert my recipes into being Zone friendly. My first task- Pizza crust. Now, I have built a tasty pizza crust which is considerably less calories and slightly less fat than the 9" Multigrain Zone pizza crust. How do I figure out how many blocks the crust is going to eat up because from my calculations, the Zone pizza crust on its own would account for most of my blocks for the day. I must be doing the math wrong. Here is my Pizza crust: Total Calories: 168.5 Total Fat: 13.0 g Total Carb: 5.2 g Total Protein: 9.9g I appreciate the help:) Look forward to getting to know you all better! Emily |

Are your figures for the entire crust? or for a serving? Total Calories: 168.5 Total Fat: 13.0 g 4 blocks of fat Total Carb: 5.2 g 1/2 block of carb Total Protein: 9.9g 1 1/2 blocks of protein Also, take into account what your ingredients are... can you post an ingredients list? Sounds interesting! |

Also: Ignore the calories, we do not really count the calories. They are taken care of by the amounts of P, C, & F. . Total Calories: 168.5 Total Fat: 13.0 g = 4 blocks F (Total F for 1 block = 3g) Total Carb: 5.2 g = 1/2 block C (Total C for 1 block = 9g) Total Protein: 9.9g = 1+ blocks (Total P for 1 block = 7g) |

Yes, ignore the calories, I see that I copied the cals over from the previous post, but according to my figures, it should be more like 177 calories. |

Emily, if those figures are for the crust only, with just 5.2 g Carbs, I, too, would be interested in the ingredients/recipe.

Emily, a tip to keep in mind, if your homemade crust is made with flour you'll want to eat it in condiment portions as you would any unfavorable carbohydrate. For Classic Zone meals Dr. Sears says to keep the amount of unfavorable carbohydrate to no more than 25% of all the carbohydrate in the meal. |
