Has anyone had any experience with this on-line diet program?

Hi,
I went to the site, and although the Zone was one of their listed choices for diets, their recommendation for me, based on their little survey I filled out, was the American Heart Association Diet.
NO thanks!
So much for ediets as far as I'm concerned!

Hi. I took their little test, and it told me to use Dr. Atkins' diet. I USED that diet back in the 1990's and I feel it was the start of all my problems. Before using the Dr. Atkins diet, I had never had abdomen "bloat" and I did during the time I used the diet and afterwards.
Until I started the Zone last year, I could never get rid of my middle.
So I don't think too highly of the ediet site. They keep sending me Atkins diet testimonials, even though I have asked to be taken off their mailing list.
I'd be careful. I was very disappointed that the site didn't give me good info.

I'm currently signed up with the ediets' version of The Zone and I have some mixed feeling on the subject.
I signed up for this because I am a lazy Zoner and had been lamenting that neither Dr. Sears or ZP had a menu plan or shopping list thing like ediets did . . . and behold, I was checking my yahoo email and there was an ad banner for ediets and the Zone, so I signed up.
Let's get the "Bad" out of the way first.
1. ediets calculates their blocks differently than either this website or zoneperfect. They base their calculations upon ADA standard dietary recommendations for calories and then convert the total recommended daily calories into blocks. For example: They calculated that I should be on a 20 block meal plan and Dr. Sear's site recommends 14 blks. This causes quite a bit of confusion to the unexperienced or newbie Zoner.
2. ediets' menus don't provide a breakdown of the blocks within a specific meal, which can make it difficult to substitute unrealistic amounts of veggies or egg whites. [i:121b2c0d8b]A couple of my "favorites" call for 6 cups of vegetables and a salad . . . along with the suggested protein or the infamous 10 egg white omlet[/i:121b2c0d8b].
3. ediets version of the zone doesn't provide any "convenience" meals (ie: Fast Food or frozen dinner options), with the exception of ZP products
A lot folks to decide to "give the Zone a try" end up getting frustrated because of the lack real convenience food options or primiarly, the sheer volume of food required, the increased grocery bills and the amount of time spent in food prep.
BTW, Dr. Sears is scheduled for a "chat" at ediets on 11/4 -- it should be interesting to see how "moderated" it will be. |
