Hi, Lately have tried the Balance 40-30-30 bars, and was wondering if many people have had good results with these. I am finding that they aren't holding me even an hour (ZP bars do), and Jeff can't eat them at all because they are loaded with milk products. Are there any other good ones out there for the times when I need a snack and ZP bars aren't carried at the local Kwik Trip? It's rather time-consuming to stand there for 1/2 hour reading labels when you need a snack right now! Has anyone tried the new Dr. Phil 40-30-30 bars? Are they even out yet? Thanks in advance. Ronica  I think I'll play with the poll thing, just to see how it works. Don't feel any pressure to answer. I am just checking out the bells and whistles.

Only $8.73 for 16 bars. They are balanced at 35-35-30. Don't know about milk products in them :?:

Haven't tried the OmegaZones yet, as I mostly grab these as a convenience thing, but may have to order some. The ZP's have been working well. I don't think we have a Vitamin World in Madison, but I'll look around. I am grateful, though, that gas stations now often carry string cheese and apples. Thanks! Ronica

Hello Ronica- If you are looking for a zoned snack and are at Kwik Trip, their cottage cheese is perfectly zoned. No it isn't the ideal source of fat, but in a pinch it works. Kelly Williamson Mobils carry balance bars (I can't remember if they carry ZP, too), Walgreens (I am sure you know) has many varieties of meal replacement bars, including ZP and Balance. Since I am in convenience stores all day long I have been looking for just these things, as you are. I have to say that the cottage cheese at KT is very good...problably due to the 4% milk fat  I'll keep you posted on the best c-stores to snack at! ~Michelle

Hi Ronica! I saw your post re: looking for bar & convenient snack alternatives....I have used both balance bars and zone perfect bars for over a year. They both work for me for probably about 3 hours, I think. I've also tried an Ironman bar which I've seen at Woodman's East which was 40-30-30. However, I didn't like it much taste or texture-wise, personally. I've also tried "Ideal" bars which I ordered on ebay. They were just kind of so-so. I haven't seen them around here anywhere, though. I've bought zone and balance bars at Target and Walmart in the area also...not as quick of a stop convenience wise, though. Woodman's has those balance outdoor bars which can be kept in warmer weather without melting. so they can be kept in your car or purse easily. They're pretty good and may be worth a try?? Re: Vitamin World...I think that's the name of the nutrition store in East Towne Mall near the food court. I've purchased whey protein there a few times. I'm pretty sure that's the name of the place. I think I might just have to try one of those Symmetry bars suggested in a previous post too! Happy zoning! Starz (p.s. my username is now starz because of a need to re-register on this site since the new forum advancements...previously, I was "falonna" and posted a few times...just to let you know...I'm really not trying to be two different people or anything, K?) :D
My wife recently purchased low-fat cottage cheese from our local supermarket, Market Basket - for me as a snack when I get home from work at 3:30 PM until we eat dinner at 6 PM. I took a good look at it. 1/2 cup = 1 g fat, 6 g carb, 13 g protein. Eating 1/4 cup or about 1 block snack protein = 6.5 g protein, 3 g carb, 1/2 g fat. So I have some almonds for fat. And some frozen, unsweetened bluberries as carbs. But I don't see how low-fat Cottage cheese by itself could serve as a 1 block snack?

Hello John- I mentioned that the cottage cheese wasn't the optimal choice for fat calories because it is 4% milk fat cottage cheese, not 1% or 2% that one would ideally choose. The cottage cheese at Kwik Trip (convenience store) is a little heavy in fat and a little light on carbs, which stretches the zone ratios a bit, but in a pinch I find it holds me quite well. Of course at a regularily planned meal I choose 1% milk fat cottage cheese, almonds and perhaps some grapes to round out the meal :) I was only trying to offer a suggestion for those horrible moments when you realize that it is time for your next zone meal and you don't have anything available. ~Michelle[/color:6c9e17be85]

Has anyone tried Protein Plus bars? Are they zone compatible? One bar has 24gms of protein i.e. 48% and they are great tasting.
