So I tried silk soy milk n almond breeze but can't find a milk I like. I didn't like rice milk either. I'm running outta options. What's a good alternative milk or brand of soy? |

I also, would appreciate advice on this topic: milk allergies to contend with. Some of the Zone receipes look wonderful....but have you TASTED them made with non-cow's milk? Ruins even one's dreams of food!
So, Andy ~ when you find an answer, PLEASE let me know, too ? ! ? |

I like WestSoy Unsweetened soy milk. Comes in plain, vanilla, choc, and almond flavors. Consider 1 cup to be 1P. Most of the carb it contains is from fiber, which is not insulin stimulating and would not be counted toward Zone C blocks. |

I also like WestSoy unsweetened soy milk. I have not seen the Almond flavor by me, but the others are quite tasty! Just not the sweetened one, which I bought on accident one time...<img src='desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/sad.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Sad' align='absmiddle'> Sue, would you still count 1 cup as 1 block even though it has 9g P? I have been doing 2/3 cup. And also, you still count the fat, right? Just making sure I'm counting all this right... |

Sarah, no need to be painstaking to the gram. Whichever you use will be close enough. A cup of WestSoy Unsweetened, give or take, can be considered a P block.
It contains enough fat so that it's not really neessary to add the F block, though if you choose to it would be fine. |

Thanks Sue! Sometimes I get pretty obsessive with the exact numbers. |

A newer milk alternative, hemp milk may be difficult to find in some places. Its protein level and texture fall in between that of rice and soy milk. It is more watery than regular milk when poured, but has enough protein for use in some cooking applications -- sauces that don't rely on large amounts of protein, for example. |

Any soy alternatives to cottage cheese out there? I have a pretty major casein allergy and it seems to be EVERYWHERE in Zone recipes. Also... low fat soy yogurt... Is it a myth? How do I account for the extra fat etc?
As for cheese - Tofutti makes an excellent vegan cheese. Veggie Slices makes good lactose-free cheese, but I found out the hard way that it's primary ingredient is casein! Oops! |

Chelsea, there's no need to eat cottage cheese, nor to find a viable substitute for it, in order to be in the Zone. I eat little to no dairy, no cottage cheese, and I have had excellent Zone results for the last 15 years. |

If you crave chocolate milk, I found that if you drink unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze and add a packet of Truvia to it, it is very good and still low carb. |

How about oat milk? don't know how easy it is to get in the US. But I quite like it. I'm just getting into the zone and haven't looked how it fits in yet... I think it only has about 4g protein and about 20g carbs. |

Milk is the best nutrients. It contains, almost all vitamins and nutrients except iron and vitamin C.It is good to be healthy. It is good for bones and teeth because it contains good amount of calcium. It reduces acidity. It is good rehydrate. It is good for skin and hair care. Everyone should intake 262ml milk everyday. |

ilk is also nearly perfectly balanced, and mentioned as a good food source (in moderation) by Dr. Sears in several of his books. |
