Hi DOREEN! Your meals can stand some adjusting to bring them more in line with the Zone. A tip, try to include some more veggies and less fruit. I'd suggest to reread THE SOY ZONE, and also take a look at all the info in Quick Start Guide on this site (link at right). To gain a better understanding of how to adjust your meals, compare then to the 7-Day Meal Planner for vegetarians (link at right). Beets are a carb that should be used in moderation. A whole can of beets would be too much to eat at one time. A whole can of green beans would be fine, and would contain about 1/3 of the carb needed in a meal for the average woman. Good luck! Have fun with it! |

Doreen, I used to do the zone when I was a vegetarian (long time ago)! I would have soy canadian bacon as a protein with that oatmeal, soy hot dogs for a lunch protein, cottage cheese for a protein, (1/4 c. per blk.) and sliced tomatoes, carrots, etc. etc. good luck, you can do it. |

HI THANK YOU. I LOOKED BACK AT MY FOOD AND REALIZE THAT I AM ONLY HAVING THE GREEN BEANS. I WOULD NEED TWO MORE VEGGIES IF I'M NOT HAVING ANY FRUIT, RIGHT???? AND I SHOULD HAVE TWO EGG WHITES AT BREAKFAST??? |

Doreen, I think you definitely need some protein at breakfast! With one cup of oatmeal, you should eat 6 egg whites, or 3 blocks of another source of protein. I would skip the banana, as this is unfavorable carb. In fact, just take a look at all of your meals. You need to balance out 3 blocks of protein with 3 blocks of carb and 3 blocks of fat. If you are using the hand/eye method or plate method, then this means having a protein portion the size of your palm, and then filling the other 2/3 of your plate with veggies and fruit, and a dash of fat. Seems as if you have the right idea with your snacks. You can find an updated food list on this site, look under the Quick Start Guide, which is under "helpful tools" on the right side of this screen. |

HI EVERYONE!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSES. I'M STILL HAVING TROUBLE. A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS DOWN 4-5 LBS. NOW IT'S JUST A LB THAT I KEEP LOSING AND GAINING. I'M NOT SURE IF I'M EATING ENOUGH OR TOO MUCH. I'VE EXERCISING AS MUCH AS I CAN. I NEED TO LOSE ABOUT 25 LBS. I'M PREDIABETIC ALONG WITH OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND FEEL LIKE JUST GIVING UP TRYING TO LOSE THE WEIGHT. I CAN GIVE UP THE BANANA FOR BREAKFAST, BUT I SHOULD HAVE SOME FRUIT RIGHT?? ALSO I'M USING THE OLIVES FOR MY FAT EXCEPT AT DINNER TIME WHEN I USE APPROX 1 LB OLIVE OIL. IF I HAVE A VEGGIE BURGER SHOULD IT BE JUST 1?? WHAT ABOUT ZONE BARS??? I BAR FOR 1 SNACK?? ESPECIALLY IF EXERCISING??? I'LL CHECK OUT THE FOOD LISTS. OH YEA...IF I HAVE EGGS FOR BREAKFAST ARE TWO REGULAR OK??? THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS. |

Doreen, You need to check out the eating plans for vegetarians. Just any old veggie burger wo'nt do...should be soy (or at least some high protein burger, like boca) and one and a half used to be the amount I used when I was a veggie. 2 regular eggs is not going to work, too much arachadonic acid in the yolk.....for a 3 blk brkf., use 6 whites, or one whole egg, and 4 whites....then, yes, fruit, maybe berries and yogurt....(I forget the amounts....but check) On this site, under Eating, you'll find the info....you will start losing again, good luck! |
