I just found out that one of my favorite snacking foods is zone friendly!
Palm Hearts!! 1/2 a cup have 3g protein, 2g carbs and zero sugar.
    (Also have iron and calcium)
Well, I assume that's zone friendly... I doubt if they're listed yet on the glycemic index.

I eat them raw from the can, but they also make a great exotic salad that I love bringing to potlucks. Most people still don't know what they are, but everybody seems to enjoy them from the start. You find them in major supermarkets near to where they sell canned artichokes.

For a great salad, sliced them in small round cylinders and mix with sliced grape tomatoes, olives, sliced green onions, broken pecans and chopped cilantro. Make a dressing of olive oil, red wine vinegar and a little S&P. Voila!

Well, I must admit that I have seen them but never quite knew what to do with them. Thanks for suggesting it, now I have a new food to try!
