I posted some ideas for you on another thread. I think I forgot your age--13--I have a 13 year old daughter at home, so maybe the suggestions that I gave you might be a little "out there".

Let me know if you need a more simplified approach. Also, if you don't cook but your mom is cooking meals, then it may be as simple as using the plate method, based on what she is cooking up. Of course, you will need more veggies and less grains and starchy carbs. But, it can work out and your mom doesn't have to stress out over it.

Hi erin, no, you don't need to cook to eat in the Zone. You might even be able to make a Balanced Zone meal from the meals you mom cooks. Look at the instructions on how to divide your plate into thirds (in Quick Start Guide; there's a link to it at the left of this page).

Yogurt is an easy meal or snack in the Zone (mix peanut butter into plain yogurt and its automatically Zone balanced...very easy!). Another easy one is a stick of string cheese and 1/2 an apple (the cheese has both the fat and protein).

More tips... Make sure to eat enough food. The Zone's not the kind of diet where you eat very little and starve. Because you're a teen and still growing, you will probably need to eat a couple extra Zone balanced snacks each day. Kids do great in the Zone. My son has eaten in the Zone since he was 9 years old (he turned 24 two days ago).

    Good luck erin!
