I am in the process of making my family zone friendly, they are all good eaters already I right now find I just need to do the balancing and ensuring that I keep the timing between meals appropriate. My question is this - what does everyone drink on the zone? Water is a no brainer but what else? How much per serving and how many servings per day? What about the kids does it really matter?? Thanks |

It matters in that you wouldn't want to choose drinks filled with carbohyrdates. A glass of milk is Zone balanced drink. If you're going to drink milk, be sure to include it in your daily food intake count, not in addition to it. Other drinks are herbal tea, a pitcher of water in the fridge with fruit and veggie slices added for flavor (cucumber, lemon, lime, etc), and carbonated water with a splash (small splash) of cranberry juice or pomegranate juice added. Also try flavored carbonated water without any added carbohydrates. It's best not to get into the habit of drinking a lot of diet soda (artificially sweetened soda), becuse it can elevate insulin levels, which will work against your efforts to stay in the Zone.
You're welcome. |

For my 7 year old, I let her drink as much milk as she likes. As Sue said, it's a zone balanced drink all on it's own, which only serves to further manage any hunger she may have. Also, because of the large portion sizes of zone favourable meals, it's a good way of increasing her block intake without trying to increase the amount of food she can eat. |

I only serve water to my toddler, but occasionally, he has milk.
I will NEVER be a "juice mother"! I have seen many kids go down that road and it's so hard to get them off that addiction! |

I see kids get so juiced grandson included it was horrible. All the mother gave him was apple juice. He wouldn't drink water. |
