My wife is 2 months pregnant. She has had one child that is 2 years old now (who we give him 1/2 tsp of omegaRX each day). How many of the omegaRX 1000 mg fish oil capsules should she take each day during pregnancy and later during breastfeeding? Her doctor prescribed PrimaCare One prenatal vitamins capsules which contains the following including some omega 3 but doesn't specify the ratio of DHA/EPA..... Omega 3 fatty acids 300 mg Linoleic acid 30 mg Linolenic acid 30 mg Vitamin C 25 mg Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 170 IU Vitamin E (di-alpha-tocopheryl acetate) 30 IU Folic Acid, USP 1 mg Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrocloride) 25 mg Calcium 150 mg Iron (carbonyl iron) 27 mg Nordic has a product for pregnant women which recommend 90 mg of EPA and 450 mg of DHA and also has 15 IU of Vitamin E. I've heard recent reports of Vitamin E supplements taken during pregnancy significantly increase the risk of birth defects, how much vitamin E is in the fish oil tocopheroyls? Also, should she take Dr. Sears olive oil too? How much? Thanks!
