Dr. Sears used to recommend 1 TBSP a day of Toasted Sesame Oil--I always found that difficult, as it just felt like too much polyunsaturated fat for me.

In searching the archives, the last time this question was directly asked and answered in-depth was 2003. Since then, it seems the website stopped offering to sell the oil and it was taken out of some formulations.

So, just wondering if Dr. Sears has changed his recommendation in any way?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Jon,

Dr. Sears' recommendation in "The Anti-Inflammaton Zone" (2005) is 1 to 2 teaspoons a day. in it he explains that sesamin, found in the lignans in sesame oil, is a direct inhibitor of AA. He compares taking sesame oil to "taking one and one-half steps forward (providing sesamin to inhibit AA production) and one step back )providing Omega 6 fatty acids to make AA)." He goes on to say in the book " Nonetheless, the benefits of sesame oil outweigh its drawbacks if it is taken in moderate amounts." I haven't heard that this has changed.

Thanks, Sue. Also, isn't toasted sesame oil taken to counteract too much GLA from oatmeal, etc.?

Larry, probably Omega Rx would be a better choice.

Reading List is something like bookmarks. It helps you save webpages and links for you to read later, even when you are not connected to the Internet.

It's a feature on some computers. You'd probable know it you have it. It looks like little reading glasses and is right next to the bookmark icon. I have a Mac. Maybe it's only an Apple thing.

YUP it has nothing to do with "some computers" as Sue stated, implying hardware or brand of computer.
It is a software function, though not limited to Apple.
It is part of the Safari web browser.
Though Safari as a web browser originated for Apple, there are windows versions.
Just as there are Apple versions of many Windows software.
Safari just happens to be the default web browser that Apple installs with their OS.
Just as windows installs IE with their OS.
And whether Windows or Apple OS, you are free to install a different web browser.
Just like I use and prefer Google Chrome over the windows default IE or Safari or Firefox.
