hi ... I'm eating 20 grams of soy burger crumbles once or twice a week. When I mix taco spices into it, add moderately cooked onions and tons of tomatoes---YUMMY!! (this one is a Canadian product--it's by PC ("President's Choice, " the superstore brand) and is on the "blue menu." So that's 20-40 grams of soy protein per week. I'm trying to figure out if that's too much soy for someone like me? (I'm 5'4'', female, 150 lbs, losing weight slowly now that I'm eating zoned even though I don't eat perfectly zoned food and even though I eat potato chips (I just separated from my husband, lots of stress, so emotional eating, etc). I'm on 15 grams of fish oil. My allergies are 90%-95% under control now ... YAH!!!! I can sleep at nighttime. It was HELL for several weeks until I got my symptoms under control. I had to ABANDON my beautiful apartment and go to live with my parents to recover in their smoke-free, carpet-free house ... I'm on 4 prescription meds plus one OTC med. Sarah |

I am really glad that you are doing better with those allergies! Sorry about your apartment, but maybe there was just something there that was continuing to exacerbate the problem I think I just got hit with a round off allergies, myself. Nothing serious, just getting nasally. No one else is sick, otherwise would be suspecting a small cold (and I don't feel sick anyway). Everything here is in bloom a month earlier than normal, and so the pollen levels are really high. Your soy crumbles dish sounds delicious! The deal with soy... I am not really a good person to address this, cuz personally I am not a big fan of soy products. But, if it is a meal that you are enjoying, and it keeps you in the Zone, then go ahead and have it a few times per week. and... STAY AWAY FROM THOSE POTATO CHIPS! lol

hi Cranberrycat, Thanks! I do love my fake taco dinner. :-) :-) :-) Hmm ... so having it a couple of times a week wouldn't do any harm, it sounds like. Great! Oh gosh, I hope your breathing isn't getting blocked at nighttime bez of your allergies? Do you mind if I inquire what your symptoms are? LOL re: potatoes ... and gotta stay away from fried onion rings too LOL ... |

Re my symptoms, no problem breathing! I just have a post-nasal drip, just feel like sneezing all the time. Scratchy throat but not really sore, etc. I can sleep fine, but waking up once or twice because the post nasal drip is making me cough, but right back to sleep. Relatively minor! Re the soy-burger-crumble-chipless taco dinner (I wouldn't call it fake-lol), I think it is fine having it as many times per week as you feel comfortable with. Having said that, I know that some people have issues regarding the consumption of too much soy, and I don't really know where to sit on that, or what to recommend for you. So, assuming that it is safe to do so, go ahead with it. Soy is sometimes gets a bad wrap, yet others feel that it is a really good healthy protein to use. Personally, I don't eat it because it is more of a manufactured product, but that is my personal choice to eat as wholly as I can (obviously with limitations). But, for purposes of eating in the Zone, I don't see a problem with repetitively eating the same meal several times in a week. I have been stuck on the same salad for lunch all week long. I enjoy the taste of it, it is easy to put together, and it is keeping me in the Zone. I am going to stick with it as long as it is working for me. So, I guess I feel the same way about your taco dinner, if it works, use it! ok, so NO POTATO CHIPS OR FRIED ONION RINGS! lol

So your allergies are annoying but not depriving you of sleep etc ... (I went one hour of sleep per night sometimes, sometimes for as long as 3 or 4 nights and days, hard to believe as it is ... I can't seem to learn to breath through my mouth!) Yeah, the taco dinner is wonderful for me. I get where you're coming from re: manufactured product. I'll have it a couple of times a week as long as nobody else comes up with anything that shows it may hurt my health. I do LOVE this soy taco dinner!!! LOL re: your last sentence *giggle* Sarah |
